Marica Events is a wedding planning practice in Palermo, working across Sicily and its smaller islands.

Marica Events
Marica is Sicilian and began her career as Events Manager for a luxury resort in Taormina. She then spent more than ten years abroad in hospitality and events, took the Advanced Diploma in Wedding Planning and Events Management at The Wedding Planner School London and trained at Sarah Haywood Weddings. She holds the EPIC marque from the Event Planners International Collaborative.
She returned to found Marica Events in Palermo. After fifteen years and more than two hundred weddings, the practice stays small on purpose, because the method takes months and cannot be run for many couples at once.
“This is not a wedding factory.”
Marica, Founder
The order of work is fixed. The budget is settled first, since it decides which venues and suppliers are realistic. The venue search follows, with a visit to walk the options, and catering is explored alongside it so neither choice is made blind. Design and the supplier chain come last, and two meetings are held at the chosen venue before the day.
The work covers the whole island: Palermo and the west, Ortigia and the south east, Taormina and the east, and the smaller islands such as Favignana and the Aeolians, which are reached by boat. Settings range from historic houses and castle courtyards to walled gardens, seaside terraces and sand aisles at the water's edge.
Marica's weddings place tradition beside a modern hand. Couples can expect her to be reachable throughout the planning and present on the day, with support by email, phone and video call.

What does Marica Events charge?
The fee follows the event. The first consultation is complimentary and carries no obligation, and the budget is established in it. Suppliers are booked and priced individually, so the planning figure covers planning and coordination rather than the wedding as a whole.
Where does Marica work?
Palermo first, and across all of Sicily: Taormina and the east, Ortigia and Syracuse in the south east, and smaller islands including Favignana and the Aeolians.
Can foreign couples marry legally in Sicily?
Yes. Advice and assistance with the legal and church paperwork is part of the full planning service. Symbolic ceremonies and vow renewals need no paperwork.
How far ahead should we book?
Early. Only a select number of events are taken each year, so availability is the first constraint, and the best venues in the popular towns fill a long way ahead.
Is coordination available if everything is already booked?
Yes. On-the-day coordination covers direction through the ceremony and reception, liaison with every supplier, guest management, interpreting and document handling.
What languages does she work in?
Italian and English. She spent more than ten years abroad and took her planning diploma in London.
What happens after the wedding?
Pre and post event management is part of full planning, so suppliers are settled, hired items go back and guests reach their airports without the couple having to organise it.
