Bottega dei fiori

Ezio De Angelis opened his workshop on Via Cecconi in Florence in 1995 and, three decades later, still runs it on his own. It is not a walk-in shop: every project begins by appointment, with a conversation and often a visit to the site before a quote is discussed.

He calls his working method the Intentional Floral Beauty Method. He listens first to the couple's story and the chosen location, turns that into a floral project in which colour, structure and empty space each have a purpose, and then directs the flowers personally through the day, from the ceremony to the last toast. He never takes on more than one wedding on a date.

“The best flowers are not the most beautiful ones on the market. They are the ones chosen for you, for that day, for that light, for that specific place.”

Ezio De Angelis, Founder

The workshop has worked in more than fifty Tuscan settings, from the Chianti vineyards and the cypress roads of the Val d'Orcia to the Maremma coast and the hill towns of the Valdinievole. Venues have included Villa La Massa, Villa San Michele a Fiesole, Castello del Nero, Castello di Gabbiano and the Certosa di Pontignano.

Almost all the flowers are fresh and in season, bought through local growers and trusted markets and chosen month by month rather than from a fixed list. Elopements and micro-weddings receive the same unhurried attention as the largest destination celebration, and the workshop also takes the occasional editorial or corporate commission.

How they work

From the first message to the day itself

  1. 01First conversation

The couple talk through their story, the venue and the atmosphere they want before any flowers are mentioned.

  2. 02Site visit

Where it helps, Ezio visits the location so the design answers the architecture and light of the place.

  3. 03The floral project

A project is drawn up around the venue, date and budget, usually presented as three tiered proposals.

  4. 04Installation and the day

Ezio oversees the installation himself on the wedding morning and directs the flowers through to the final toast.

Questions couples ask

Before you write to them

What is the Intentional Floral Beauty Method?

It is Ezio's way of working: hear the couple's story and see the location first, design a project in which every colour and space has a reason, then direct the flowers himself on the day.

Where does Ezio work?

Mainly across Tuscany, including Florence, the Chianti, Val d'Orcia, Maremma, Mugello and Siena, and occasionally in Umbria and elsewhere in central Italy.

Can we visit the workshop?

The workshop in Florence works by appointment only and is not a walk-in shop. Each project starts with a conversation, often followed by a site visit.

Is there a price list or minimum spend?

There is no fixed price list. A quote follows a conversation about the venue, date, atmosphere and budget, and is usually presented as three tiered proposals.

Are the flowers fresh or artificial?

Almost entirely fresh and seasonal, sourced through local growers and trusted markets.

Does the workshop take elopements and micro-weddings?

Yes. Ezio counts them among his favourite projects, as a smaller scale asks even more of every stem.

How far ahead should we book?

At least 9 to 12 months for spring and summer, and 15 to 18 months for the busiest weeks in May and September. Autumn and winter dates are more flexible.

Does Ezio work with wedding planners?

Yes, regularly, and also directly with couples who are planning without one. The method and his personal involvement are the same either way.

Is your date free with Bottega dei fiori?

A few details help them reply with a proposal, not a brochure.
