Nordic Adventure Weddings plans weddings and elopements in Denmark for couples who live elsewhere. Lena and Carsten founded the company, and a small team handles the planning, the legal documentation, the application to the Danish authorities and the arrangements on the day.
Denmark has no residency requirement for marriage, and with a complete set of documents approval typically takes about five working days. The team checks the paperwork, submits the application and books the ceremony, and the international marriage certificate is issued after the ceremony, with an apostille or legalisation available when a couple's home country needs it.
Settings range from town halls to castles and manors, beaches, lighthouses, cliff tops and woodland, and there are packages for a simple civil ceremony, a small elopement or a larger celebration in a rented castle. Several packages are themed, including a Viking-inspired wedding and an island wedding on Bornholm, and bespoke weddings can be designed from scratch.
The company plans same-sex weddings, works with sustainable local vendors and with Danish wedding photographers, and offers extras such as a bouquet, a wedding cake, hair and make-up and a horse-drawn carriage.
Couples start with a checklist and upload their documents, which the team checks for quality, translations and consistency.
Pick a town hall or a romantic location, then confirm the package and sign the agreement.
The team submits the case to the Agency of Family Law and handles any questions. Approval typically takes about five working days.
At a town hall the earliest available slot is chosen; at a romantic location the team coordinates the date with the venue.
Couples arrive with their original documents, sign, and receive an international marriage certificate.
