A Madrid landmark hotel from 1912 on Plaza de las Cortes, with a stained glass dome, a ballroom for 340 seated guests and 470 guestrooms
The Palace Hotel, Madrid, part of The Luxury Collection, opened in 1912 beside the Neptune Fountain and holds weddings in 21 event spaces, with its largest ballroom seating 340 guests at round tables.
The Palace Hotel, Madrid, a Luxury Collection hotel, stands on Plaza de las Cortes beside the Neptune Fountain. It opened on 12 October 1912, commissioned under King Alfonso XIII on the site of the former Palace of the Dukes of Medinaceli, and a restoration led to its return to The Luxury Collection in 2025. Its glass dome, made of 1,875 panes, covers La Cúpula restaurant and bar, and the interiors were reimagined by Lázaro Rosa Violán.
Weddings use the hotel's 21 event spaces. The Medinaceli Ballroom is the largest, seating 340 guests at round tables of ten and dividing into three sections. Neptuno looks onto the fountain, Julio Camba keeps its chandeliers and marble fireplace for smaller gatherings, and Cánovas and Cervantes are bright rooms that connect with Neptuno. The hotel's own kitchen prepares the menus, and civil ceremonies can be arranged through the hotel's recommended suppliers. The 470 guestrooms include six room categories and five suites, among them the Neptuno Suite and the Royal Suite, and the Prado Museum and Retiro Park are a short walk away.

King Alfonso XIII saw the need for a grand hotel in an increasingly international Madrid and introduced the Belgian entrepreneur Georges Marquet to the idea. Marquet bought the site of the former Palace of the Dukes of Medinaceli, building began in March 1911 and the hotel opened on 12 October 1912 with 800 rooms. In 1914 Madrid City Council named it the city's best building.

The dome over La Cúpula was designed in 1912 by the architect Eduardo Ferrés i Puig and made by the glassmakers Maumejean from 1,875 panes of glass. Every pane was taken down, catalogued and restored in the recent works, and the palm shaped chandelier returned to its original place beneath it. The hotel returned to The Luxury Collection in 2025, with the restoration led by Ruiz Larrea Arquitectura and the interiors by Lázaro Rosa Violán.

The Medinaceli Ballroom is the largest of the event spaces and can be divided into three independent sections. Neptuno looks onto the Neptune Fountain, Julio Camba keeps its original architectural details for up to 110 guests, and Cánovas and Cervantes give bright, mid sized rooms for receptions.

We got married on September 2, 2023, and the celebration at this fantastic hotel included a welcome cocktail, the meal, and the dance. The service was exquisite from the very first moment we contacted Antonio Rivas. He advised us on the reception halls, the start time based on the church ceremony and time for photos, and helped us choose the menus, open bar duration, and late-night snack, everything we needed thanks to his professionalism. Then the big day arrived, and we had Ángel as our maître d', who ensured that every detail was taken care of throughout the event, making everything perfect. Thank you both and the entire team for your excellent service. I don't think there could be a better place for such an important celebration.
