A Romanian agency for beach weddings

Nunta pe Plaja (the name means beach wedding) is a Romanian wedding agency founded by Ioana Selner in 2016. It plans and runs beach weddings in Greece, on the Romanian Black Sea coast and further afield. Its offices are in Timișoara and Bucharest, with partners in Athens, Milan, Singapore and New York, and the office is staffed Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm.

Greece, where most weddings take place

About 85 per cent of the agency’s weddings are in Greece, on islands including Thassos, Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, Skopelos and Corfu, and in Halkidiki. Weddings run from the beginning of May to the end of October, from Monday to Monday. The agency advises booking at least a year ahead, and for weekend dates often two or three years ahead.

The Romanian coast

In Romania the agency works along the Black Sea coast, from Mamaia and Constanța to Eforie Nord, Neptun, Olimp, Jupiter and Vama Veche, for beach ceremonies and civil ceremonies by the sea. The Romania Wedding Atlas covers marrying in the country, and there are more wedding venues in Romania on the site.

Exotic destinations

Beyond Greece and Romania the agency plans weddings in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico, Bora Bora, Italy, Spain and Thailand, and elsewhere on request.

One contract

The agency sells a full service in a single contract. It covers a civil or religious ceremony on the beach, design, décor and production, food and drink, music and entertainment, photography and videography, guest services and a dedicated concierge. Each wedding is tailored. The agency says couples can be guests at their own wedding, and puts the time a couple would otherwise spend organising a wedding at about 750 hours, or four months.

Five steps from application to the day

Couples apply first, for a wedding they have already decided on. An interview follows, in which the team gets to know the couple and shapes their vision. The couple then receives a personal offer based on guest numbers, destination and services. Once the contract is signed the organisation begins, and on the day the couple enjoys the wedding while the team looks after everything else.

Price and track record

There is no fixed budget for a given guest number or destination. The offer is built around the number of guests, the destination, the services and the type of ceremony, and the couple chooses from options within the budget they have. The company says it has organised more than two thousand weddings and events. Ioana Selner lists among her awards Destination Wedding Planner of the Year, London, for 2020 to 2021, Best Luxury Wedding Planning Service in Europe, New York, for 2022 to 2023, and Woman Entrepreneur of the Year, Dubai, in 2025. The agency’s own site is at nuntapeplaja.ro.
