Sara D'Angelo trained as an architect at Federico II University in Naples, graduating with honours in 2000, and then spent several years in doctoral study and university research on the restoration and safety of historic buildings. A short course for wedding planners in Salerno and a two-year traineeship moved her towards events, and her first wedding project, in 2010, was her own.
She describes herself as a wedding architect rather than a wedding planner. In practice that means she designs each wedding on paper before it is built: a moodboard to fix shapes and colours, a floor plan to divide the space, detailed drawings of the table settings and a render that places the whole scheme in the venue. Her studio, which she calls the Design Lab, also designs invitations, favours and floral installations.
“The purpose, and great responsibility, of my job is to envisage, design and create the spouses’ great day, making it all come true.”
Sara D'Angelo
Her published portfolio runs to about thirty weddings, almost all in Campania. They include ceremonies on the lawn of Hotel Caruso in Ravello, a dinner under light canopies at Villa Cimbrone, receptions at the Excelsior Vittoria and Bellevue Syrene in Sorrento, Villa Eliana and Villa Angelina on the Sorrento coast, Quattro Passi at Nerano, weddings on Capri, Castello Lancellotti at Lauro, Acquapetra at Telese Terme, Villa Campolieto at Ercolano and the Monastero di Santa Chiara in Naples. One wedding, at Castello di Bracciano, was in Lazio.
Sara leads every project and works with two named assistants: Raffaella Sorrentino, a lawyer by training who sources materials and bespoke pieces, and Susy Troncone, who has been with the team since 2016 and runs logistics, hostesses and installations on the day. On her booking page she says she designs and organises only ten weddings a year, and offers two levels of service: a wedding run by her team, or one run by Sara personally.
Alongside weddings she designs communions, christenings and milestone birthdays, offers a separate venue consultation for couples still choosing a location, and teaches courses in wedding design, planning and photo editing for people entering the profession.
An initial call or studio meeting in Naples, free of obligation, to hear how the couple imagine the day, the guest numbers, the date and the budget.
Advice on the location, judged on more than looks: access for hired equipment, the building's architectural and landscape constraints, the season and a weather back-up plan. This is also offered as a standalone consultation.
A moodboard, a floor plan, detailed drawings of the table settings and a 3D render, so the couple can see the wedding before it is built.
Sara selects and briefs the florists, caterers, lighting, stationery and entertainment suppliers and keeps the project within the agreed budget.
Sara and her team are on site to direct the installations, the hostess staff and the timing, so the plan is delivered as drawn.

Ask for a proposalShe does not publish a planning fee. Her 2024 booking form asks couples to choose between two overall budgets: from €29,000 for a wedding run by her team, and from €49,000 for a wedding run by Sara personally. Those are minimum event budgets, not her fee, which is quoted on request.
Mainly in Campania: Naples, the Amalfi Coast (including Ravello), the Sorrento coast, Capri and the castles and villas of the interior such as Castello Lancellotti at Lauro and Acquapetra at Telese Terme. Her portfolio also includes one wedding at Castello di Bracciano in Lazio.
Her booking page states that she designs and organises only ten weddings a year, with requests considered in the order they arrive.
Sara leads every wedding with two named assistants: Raffaella Sorrentino, wedding assistant and web researcher, and Susy Troncone, wedding assistant and head hostess, who has been with her since 2016. She also works with a wider group of trade professionals.
Italian is her first language. Her 2018 CV lists English at a basic to intermediate level, and her website has an English version of its main pages. International couples should confirm language arrangements when they enquire.
Yes. Her Design Lab produces a moodboard, a floor plan, detailed table-setting drawings and a 3D render of the scheme before anything is built.
Yes. She offers a separate venue consultation that looks at logistics, the building's constraints, the season and a back-up plan for bad weather, as well as the look of the place.
She does not publish a lead time. Because she limits herself to ten weddings a year and handles requests in date order, it is sensible to enquire as soon as the date and region are fixed.
