Stuart Wood Photography

Stuart Wood photographed people for magazines and television for more than two and a half decades before weddings became the centre of his work. His editorial clients include the BBC, ITV, Sky, GRAZIA, Cosmopolitan and the Radio Times, for whom he has shot covers. He holds Fellowships in three professional photographic bodies, has taught workshops and seminars for other photographers in the UK and abroad, and writes columns for photography magazines.

He describes his wedding style as relaxed, fun and editorial, built on the lighting techniques he uses on commercial shoots. On the day he works in two ways: moments are photographed as they happen, in a documentary manner, and portraits are set up and lit in advance so the couple can step in and be finished in moments. The aim is that the couple spend the day with their guests rather than standing around posing. His galleries move between warm colour and black and white, from quiet getting-ready frames to wide views of the setting.

“I don’t just aim to capture how people look, I want to show how they feel.”

Stuart Wood

Every collection covers the full day, from the last moments of getting ready through the ceremony and speeches to the first dance, with an assistant photographer alongside him. His largest collection stays for 90 minutes after the first dance to photograph the dance floor and includes a pre-wedding shoot, which he also offers on its own in London, across the UK and abroad.

London is home ground, with weddings at Rosewood London, The Biltmore and The May Fair Hotel in Mayfair, The Lansdowne Club and the Mandarin Oriental. Elsewhere in Britain his work runs from Boturich Castle on Loch Lomond and Cameron House to The West Mill in Derbyshire, and abroad to Venice, Paris, Mallorca, Santorini and the Algarve. Worldwide and multi-day celebrations are priced on consultation.

Couples receive an online gallery of edited images and the high resolution files. Albums are made by Graphistudio, the Italian maker he has represented at industry events, in handmade leather, and he also supplies mounted prints, wall art and a printed magazine of the wedding. Outside weddings, his D Day veterans project, SIX, SIX, FORTY FOUR, was exhibited in 2019 at the National Memorial Arboretum and the National Army Museum and the book has been accessioned to the British Library. He won Best Wedding Photographer for Europe and Asia at the RSVP Global Awards in Istanbul.
