Joy Wedding is the planning practice of Federica Tamborini, who was born in Rome and now lives in Romagna. She works from Cattolica, the last town on the Romagna coast before Le Marche, and plans weddings in Italy for couples from the UK, the United States, Australia, Canada and elsewhere in Europe, many of whom organise everything from home.
Her work is concentrated in four regions: Romagna, Le Marche, Umbria and Abruzzo. Her weddings include Nikis Resort in Umbria, Villa Imperiale and Villa Cattani Stuart near Pesaro, the Barco Ducale in Urbania, Palazzo Serre at San Leo, Tenuta Biodinamica Mara near Rimini, MarePineta Resort at Milano Marittima and Villa Corallo in Abruzzo. She also has contacts in Puglia and Lazio and takes weddings there, and she once planned a wedding in Santorini from Italy with a planner on the island.
“A well-coordinated wedding day is never improvised.”
Federica Tamborini, founder of Joy Wedding
She calls herself a wedding planner in the strict sense: she runs the whole project and brings in a specialist for each job rather than making decorations, stationery or styling herself. Her network covers photographers, videographers, florists, wedding designers, hair and make-up artists, musicians and DJs. Couples are free to book their own suppliers instead.
She keeps to a limited number of weddings each season. Most have 80 to 130 guests and a total budget of €50,000 to €150,000, often over several days with a welcome dinner and a farewell brunch. She also plans micro weddings of up to 30 guests, from a budget of €25,000.
Planning runs through Aisle Planner, an online platform where couples follow the budget, deadlines, payments, guest list, seating plan and suppliers in one place. Most contact is by email and scheduled video calls, and on the day she directs the wedding herself with assistants, their number set by the size and complexity of the event.
