About Umaya Resort and Adventures

A beach and lagoon resort on Belize's Placencia Peninsula offering elopement and micro-wedding packages, with suites, restaurants and a spa on site.

Umaya Resort & Adventures stands on the Placencia Peninsula in southern Belize, with the Caribbean Sea on one side and Placencia Lagoon on the other. Weddings use both shores: the beachfront, with its palms and white sand, and the lagoon side, a lawn and boardwalk looking across the water towards the Maya Mountains. A pool with a swim-up bar and thatched palapas sits beside the sea.

The resort is part of The Belize Collection and works through a coordinator who plans the event before arrival and another on site. Ceremonies range from elopements for two to micro-weddings of around ten guests, with a licence, officiant, bridal arch, bouquet, cake and a private dinner among the elements of each package. Guests stay in one- and two-bedroom suites with kitchens and private balconies, or in the villas at Umaya Beach Club, a short drive along the coast. Dining runs from lagoonside tacos at Casa de Maiz to wood-fired pizza at Don Tonito's and drinks at the beach bar, and the In Lak'Ech spa offers treatments rooted in Mayan tradition. Off-site days can take in reef snorkelling, Maya ruins, cave tubing and river excursions, which makes the resort equally suited to a honeymoon.
