Ten venues are filed under Hampshire on 5 Star Weddings, and six of them publish a wedding price. The six figures do not measure the same thing: two are charged per guest, four are packages for a stated number of guests or a stated weekend, and one of those hotels also publishes a price for hiring the whole building. Set side by side without that distinction, they would mislead, so this guide keeps them apart.
Per guest: two hotels, two different packages
Tylney Hall Hotel publishes wedding packages from £160 per person. The record gives no further detail on what the packages cover, so ask for the inclusions in writing before comparing the figure with any other.
Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa, near New Milton, publishes its An English Original package from £265 per guest. It includes room hire, a drinks reception with canapés, the wedding breakfast and a night in a Junior Suite for the couple. The hotel has 72 rooms and seats up to 140, with up to 80 at a ceremony. The record does not mark Chewton Glen as available for exclusive use.
Packages for a stated number of guests
A package price is a single figure for a defined set of inclusions, so it rises with the guest list in a way the headline number does not show.
Balmer Lawn Hotel & Spa in Brockenhurst publishes its Midweek and Winter package from £5,500 for 50 guests. It covers room hire for the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception, a Prosecco reception, three canapés per guest, a two course fork buffet, Chiavari chairs, table linen and a cake stand and knife, with preferential room rates for guests. Every main package also includes a Wedding Executive, a banqueting manager, a complimentary Honeymoon Suite for the couple and a menu tasting for two. The hotel has 54 bedrooms, seats up to 120 and is recorded as available for exclusive use, including all 54 bedrooms, the restaurant and lounge, the leisure facilities and gardens and two banqueting suites. The record carries no separate price for exclusive use.
Oakley Hall Hotel, near Basingstoke, publishes its Twilight package from £6,500 for 50 guests. This is an evening package: it includes a dressing room, a drink and three canapés on arrival, evening food (a barbecue, bowl food or a hog roast), a glass of fizz for the toast, a resident DJ and dance floor, Chiavari chairs, a private bar, a wedding co-ordinator and toastmaster, and a Four Poster Suite for the couple on the wedding night. The hotel also offers full day packages, which add ceremony room hire, a three course wedding breakfast and a menu tasting, but the record carries no figure for them. Oakley Hall has 50 bedrooms, seats up to 350, takes up to 160 at a ceremony and is recorded as available for exclusive use.
The Montagu Arms Hotel in Beaulieu publishes an Intimate package from £2,800 for 4 to 32 guests, using the Oakwood Room for both the ceremony and the meal. It is the smallest published figure in Hampshire, and it is for a different kind of wedding from any other on this page.
Taking the whole venue
Where a venue is hired as a whole, the price covers the building rather than the day, and food and rooms need separate questions.
The Montagu Arms publishes exclusive private hire of the whole hotel from £21,500, for 50 to 150 guests: 100 through the day, with 50 more joining in the evening. It covers all 33 bedrooms and suites, the Oakwood Room and the Terrace Restaurant, Monty’s Inn, the gardens and the courtyard terrace, with cooking done in house throughout.
The Barn at Avington publishes a 2027 weekend package from £11,800, with its cottages included. The record describes the booking as the whole venue, with a limited number of dates each year so that a wedding can run over several days, and gives a seated capacity of 120. Ask what the weekend package covers beyond the cottages.
Venues that do not publish a price
Four of the ten venues do not publish a price, so a couple needs a quote from each:
- Bury Court publishes no price. Its record lists an indoor or outdoor ceremony, catering from fine dining to street food, tailored planning and hire from 10am to midnight, with 15 bedrooms and a suite and seating for 160.
- Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa has 77 rooms, seats up to 100 and takes up to 80 at a ceremony. It is recorded as available for exclusive use.
- The Elvetham has 72 rooms and seats up to 130. It is recorded as available for exclusive use.
- Highfield Park has 58 rooms. No capacity or price is recorded.
Questions to ask before comparing
- What is the figure per? Per guest, per package for a stated number of guests, per weekend or for the whole building. Chewton Glen and Tylney Hall quote per guest; Balmer Lawn and Oakley Hall quote for 50 guests; the Montagu Arms quotes for 4 to 32 guests or for the whole hotel.
- Which season and day does it apply to? Balmer Lawn’s published package is a midweek and winter offer, Oakley Hall’s is an evening package and Avington’s is for 2027.
- What happens above the stated guest number? A package for 50 guests says nothing about the 51st.
- Does the price include rooms, food and drink? Chewton Glen, Balmer Lawn and Oakley Hall each list a room for the couple; the Montagu Arms Intimate package lists the Oakwood Room and the meal; Tylney Hall and Avington give no breakdown.
- Is exclusive use available on your date, and what does it cost?
