The Montagu Arms stands halfway down Palace Lane in the middle of Beaulieu, a New Forest village in southern Hampshire. It is a country house hotel of red brick under creeper, so weddings take place inside the village rather than behind a gate. Guests can walk down to the Beaulieu River between the ceremony and dinner and return through the ivy-covered garden archway. The hotel has 33 bedrooms and suites in seven room types, spread across the main house, a courtyard and the barn, and the cooking is done in-house throughout.
Civil ceremonies are held in the Oakwood Room, which seats 32 under leaded diamond windows. Exclusive private hire takes the whole hotel for 50 to 150 guests, with 100 seated in the wood-panelled Terrace Restaurant and 150 standing for the evening. Monty's Inn serves as the pub and brasserie, and the gardens include a lawn used for outdoor ceremonies. There is no spa or ballroom. Southampton Airport is about 35 minutes away by car.
