Georgian manor hotel on a 315-acre estate · Oakley, near Basingstoke, Hampshire
4.73 reviewsA family-owned Georgian manor house on the outskirts of Basingstoke, where weddings range from intimate gatherings to dry-hire cultural celebrations in the grounds.
Oakley Hall Hotel is a Grade II listed, 18th-century Georgian manor house, family-owned and independent, on the outskirts of Basingstoke in Hampshire. The Library has a Georgian fireplace, ornate chandeliers and walls lined with mahogany bookshelves of novels by literary greats, including former guest Jane Austen. The team treats each wedding as an individual occasion, and weddings flow through interlinking rooms, terraces and landscaped grounds, with the estate gardens and woodlands as part of the setting. The house holds traditional manor-house weddings as well as Asian and Afro-Caribbean celebrations, and it is a dog-friendly wedding venue.
Couples preparing for the day can use the Whitchurch Suite, a dedicated dressing room with three LED mirrors, a changing room, a drinks fridge, plug sockets and Bluetooth Sonos speakers, with space for hair and makeup artists and photographers. The house has played host to everything from intimate celebrations for a select few to grand wedding receptions. Dry hire is offered as an alternative: couples hire the space and arrange their own staff, entertainment and event management. It is particularly popular with couples who want to bring in one or more cultural backgrounds, and recommended suppliers for Asian weddings are available through the Wedding Coordinators.

Eight wedding spaces are licensed for ceremonies and partnerships, and couples can choose indoors or out. The oak-framed Woodland Pavilion is the outdoor option, with large arching oak beams framing the scene. Indoors there are the Garden Suite, the Library, the Steventon, the Winchester and the Garden Room. The Steventon is on the first floor, with three large south-facing windows over the grounds and woodland. The Garden Suite has French doors that lead directly onto the Garden Terrace. A partition turns the Garden Suite into the Garden Room for lower guest numbers, and the Winchester sits on the other side of that partition, in a more intimate setting.

After the ceremony, couples and guests celebrate with drinks and canapés and explore the grounds for portraits and group photographs. The Garden Suite combines contemporary elegance with 18th-century grandeur. For the wedding breakfast, the Library and the Garden Room suit more intimate meals, while the Garden Suite or the Garden Pavilion suit larger ones. The Garden Pavilion is a separate, modern space with its own bar, kitchen and terrace, a state-of-the-art sound system and lighting. Evening celebrations take place in dedicated reception spaces with private bars, terraces, and lighting and sound systems in selected rooms. Discos end at 1am from Monday to Saturday and at 12.30am on Sundays, and live bands need approval and finish by 11pm.

The hotel has 50 bedrooms, sleeping 47, including Deluxe and Executive Bedrooms, Courtyard Suites and Four Poster Suites. Deluxe Bedrooms are in the main house and the 19th-century courtyard. The Coach House and Clock Tower Suites are split-level, with a lounge and a bedroom. The Four Poster Suites are on the top floor of the main house. The Garden Cottage on the rear lawns has three queen size bedrooms, two bathrooms, a sitting room and a private patio. Wedding guests receive guaranteed accommodation rates.

The Glasshouse Restaurant is a modern, bright space with a field-to-fork approach, serving lunch, three-course evening meals, Afternoon Tea and Sunday Roast. Produce comes from the hotel's Kitchen Garden and from neighbouring Hampshire suppliers, and guests are welcome to take a self-guided tour of the garden. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated if pre-ordered, and one complimentary menu is printed per table.
