About

Tanya at Perfect Promises creates unforgettable, personalized wedding ceremonies across the UK, blending her expertise as a celebrant and former Registrar to make your day truly special.

"We both reflect on our wedding ceremony with joy and happiness; it was the best part of our wedding day.” (J&C) Tanya at Perfect Promises writes and delivers traditional bespoke wedding ceremonies with a contemporary twist, formal without formality, and fizzing with love and happiness.

If the content of your wedding ceremony is important to you, you've come to the right place! The words you will say on your wedding day are among the most meaningful words you will ever say to each other, and Tanya will ensure they are perfect for you.

Perfect Promises

She will work with you to create a ceremony that suits you so that you are completely comfortable on your wedding day, with no anxiety - only happy, butterfly nerves!  “Tanya made us all feel at ease and took all the stress out of the ceremony part.” (L&B)

Tanya has been an independent wedding celebrant since 2016 and, before that, was a Registrar for 7 years, so she understands the logistics and choreography of a wedding ceremony and can offer advice and guidance on any elements you may wish to include, whether that’s readings, songs, music, prayers, hymns, hand-tying or anything else you may have in mind.  If it’s meaningful to you, then you must include it!  “Tanya made the process easy, and we had a beautiful ceremony.” (B&L)

Perfect Promises

Based in West Sussex, Tanya is happy to travel to your dream wedding location anywhere in the UK or beyond (subject to additional costs).

An Excellent Experience
We had an EXCELLENT experience from start to finish with Tanya for our wedding day... The way we were able to personalise our ceremony made it so intimate and romantic- exactly what I wanted! I would highly recommend Tanya, as a wedding can be stressful enough, and Tanya was extremely calm, made us all feel at ease, and took all of the stress out of the Ceremony part!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you help us with our vows?

Yes! Whether you would like to use pre-written vows, or to write your own (and most couples use a combination of both during the ceremony) I can help and guide you as much, or as little, as you need. I'll help you choose between traditional or more contemporary pre-written vows, so that you only say words which fit your style of wedding, and which are meaningful to you. If you need help writing your own vows, then I'll be on hand to guide you and provide examples from some of my real weddings to help inspire you!

Is a Celebrant-led wedding ceremony legally binding?

At the moment, the law requires you to be married either by a Registrar in an approved venue or Register Office, or by a religious minister in a church. Most of my couples simply book a 'statutory marriage ceremony' in their local Register Office, usually before their Celebrant-led ceremony, but it can be after if you prefer. The Register Office ceremony is very quick and simple; you just need to say the words required by law and sign the register - that's it! It's simply a case of removing the legal part from your big day so that you can have a wedding ceremony which is just the way you want it to be.

My couples usually go to the Register Office in casual clothing - saving 'The Dress' for their Celebrant-led ceremony (unless you'd like an excuse to have two wedding dresses, of course!) and, as exchanging rings isn't part of the legal requirement, they save this for their Celebrant-led ceremony, too.

Will our wedding ceremony seem less real if we're already legally married.

Not at all, and quite the opposite, in fact. Signing the legal paperwork is just that! The meaningful part is celebrating your marriage in front of your family and friends by saying words to each other that have been carefully chosen to reflect both of you and your relationship. All of my couples say that they view this as their real wedding, and most choose to to celebrant their wedding anniversary on this date, not the date they signed the legal paperwork.

It's similar to the way that we celebrate our birthdays on the day we were born, not the day our birth was registered in the Register Office!

Can we still have a Celebrant-led ceremony in a licensed venue?

Absolutely! One of the great things about choosing a Celebrant-led ceremony is that it can be anywhere you like, including licensed venues.
