The Function BandThe bandThe Function Band is a live act for weddings, private parties and corporate events, performing since 2008 from a base in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. It has built a large following online, with more than 400,000 social media followers and over 250 million views on TikTok and Instagram.
Couples choose between two formats. DJ Live combines a DJ with singers and live instruments, starting at six or eight musicians: a typical six-piece has a DJ, guitarist, saxophonist and three vocalists. The ShowBand is a produced live show that starts as a nine-piece with drums, bass, guitar, keyboard, trumpet, saxophone and three vocalists. Either line-up can grow to twenty with extra vocalists, percussion, brass or strings.
The repertoire runs from soul and Motown to modern pop, R&B, dance and disco, and each set list is tailored to the crowd. A typical wedding has a short entrance set, a live dinner set and an evening of party music. The musicians play until midnight, and the DJ can continue past midnight if wanted, until 1am in the UK or 2am abroad.
The band performs at London hotels and venues including Claridge's, The Savoy, Rosewood London, Corinthia, The Berkeley and Raffles London at The OWO, at country houses across the UK, and in Ireland at venues such as Adare Manor, Luttrellstown Castle and Castle Leslie. It plays more than 50 weddings and events abroad each year, in places such as Lake Como, Mallorca, Monte Carlo, Malta and Greece. It also has experience of Jewish weddings, including chuppah music, hora and Simcha dancing.
Every booking includes professional sound and lighting, and an in-house team handles set-up and logistics. Staging, dance floors and lighting design are available for larger venues and destination events through the band's event production service.

The team recommends a format, from a six-piece DJ Live act to a full ShowBand with lighting and production, to suit the venue, the guest list and any sound limits.
Couples go through the day with the events team before the wedding, so the set list and the key moments are personal to them.
For May to September and for popular destinations abroad the band advises booking 12 to 18 months ahead. Off-peak dates can often be arranged at shorter notice.
The band arrives with its own sound and lighting and runs a timed programme of entrance set, dinner set and party sets, with the DJ covering any gaps.
