Meet the photographer
Jimena San Miguel and Volvoreta
Jimena San Miguel began taking pictures at eleven with a film Kodak. In her teens she moved in front of the lens, modelling for Vogue and Oh Que Luna at seventeen, and by eighteen she was a production manager for Telva, Vogue and ¡HOLA! magazines.
She directs Volvoreta from Vigo and Madrid, and the studio has photographed weddings since 2009. The fashion background shows in the pictures: colour is chosen with care, compositions are considered, and the couple are photographed from close by.
The portfolio ranges from a street party in Havana, a wedding from which later reached the cover of ¡HOLA!, to the 2018 wedding of Duchess Sophie of Württemberg and Count Maximilien d'Andigné at Schloss Tegernsee in Bavaria. Wire-photo captions from that day credit the images to Volvoreta. Weddings in France and Brazil also feature, alongside destination weddings across Spain.
Styles include documentary, editorial, fashion-influenced and fine art. The studio shoots video as well as photography, and has covered both a two-person ceremony on a Mediterranean cliff edge and multi-day celebrations of around a hundred guests.
