About Cluny Castle

A castle in rural Aberdeenshire that is a family home as well as a venue, with a private chapel at its heart.

Cluny Castle in Sauchen

Cluny Castle is a Scottish castle in rural Aberdeenshire, set within 200 acres of countryside at the end of a tree-lined drive. It is a family home as well as a wedding venue, and has been sympathetically restored and renovated over the years. The castle has turrets and a distinctive silhouette, and its interiors are panelled and intimate. Hired on an exclusive-use basis, it gives the wedding party full access to the castle and its private estate. Only a limited number of weddings are held each year, so a wedding day here is a private one, and if not all the bedrooms are taken no other guests are staying.

The grounds include a lake, expansive lawns and ancient trees, within landscaped parkland and ancient woodland that change with the seasons and give many backdrops for photographs. Several sites in the grounds can host a marquee, each with the castle behind it. The castle caters for small intimate weddings and for large marquee weddings alike, and the house can be set up for a more intimate feel, so an elopement works as well as a grand celebration. A dedicated wedding planner is with each couple from the start of planning and throughout the wedding day, and the castle keeps a list of recommended suppliers.

We fell in love with Cluny when we first saw it…

We got married at the stunning Cluny Castle, and it was the most perfect day!! We fell in love with Cluny when we first saw it, and it is just the most magical place to get married. A big thank you to Fiona, she was amazing and made sure everything was perfect for us. She’s so nice and has been so helpful over the two years of planning. It was a pleasure working with her! Thanks to Cosmo for letting us share part of his home for our wedding day. Can’t thank everyone enough; we truly had the best day and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone!

We feel extremely lucky to have been married at Cluny!…

Ross and I couldn't be more grateful to have had our wedding at Cluny Castle, we feel extremely lucky to have been able to have our special day there. The venue was just perfect, and there isn't a single thing we would change about it. From our arrival on the Friday, where our family and wedding party joined us, to waking up in the beautiful bridal suite to get ready for the big day. We were made to feel so welcome and at home from the moment we stepped through the doors. Cosmo was fantastic; opening his home and allowing us to have our wedding there truly felt like such a privilege. He was there whenever needed and made us feel completely at ease. Again, we'd like to thank you so much for having us at Cluny. Our day couldn't have been any more perfect, and it will always have a very special place in our hearts.
