Exclusive-use barn venue in a restored farm hamlet · Aldermaston, Berkshire
A Berkshire farm hamlet taken for exclusive use, where a parish church, a grade II listed barn and 26 bedrooms stand together on one estate.
Wasing Park is a barn wedding venue in the Berkshire countryside, part of Wasing Estate near Aldermaston. It is built around a lovingly restored traditional farm hamlet, where the farm buildings sit beside the Parish Church of St Nicholas. Castle Barn is grade II listed, and a Granary sits proudly on its staddle stones among the other buildings. Wasing Park is taken on an exclusive-use basis, so the ceremony, the reception and the accommodation are all in one place. The setting is quintessentially English countryside, with the farm buildings, church and barns gathered closely together.
Wasing stretches beyond a single day. Two-day weddings are an option, and guests have plenty to do around the wedding itself. A Wild Swim Lake and Scandinavian Sauna are offered for unwinding before or after the day, with lakeside yoga available. Suggested activities include a picnic with Pimms in the woodlands, a family and friends cricket match at the Cricket Pavilion, ale trails, garden games, treasure hunts, cocktail making, giant Scalextric, archery and forest bathing. The wider estate includes a Walled Garden, a pavilion woodland and a marina, so there is plenty of ground to explore between events. Favours made on the estate include hand-poured candles.

Couples choose from three ceremony spaces. The Parish Church of St Nicholas is on site for traditional ceremonies. The Garden Room is a glass-walled indoor setting, with rustic beams, aged brickwork and glass bi-fold walls that bring the outdoors in. The Victorian Summerhouse is the choice for outdoor weddings, and it carries a delicate hand painted mural.

Castle Barn is the reception and party space, seating up to 140 guests for dinner, with acoustics made for dancing. It offers fine dining, or the more relaxed Farmhouse Menu, and its terrace has a floating stretch tent for al fresco evening food in every season. Chefs cook over a fire pit and in a wood fired oven at the outdoor kitchen beside the terrace, so diners watch the food being made. An after party late night bar keeps the evening going. For two-day weddings, the Stables Lodge hosts family-style feasts, with courtyard barbecues, paella parties on the terrace and acoustic musicians by the Stables courtyard fire pit.

There are 26 bedrooms on site, in the Home Farmhouse, heritage cottages, The Coach House, The Granary, The Smithy and The Dovecote, with additional guest accommodation. Each bedroom is designed within a historical setting. The Honeymoon Suite is the couple's own room, the Bridal Cottage is available the night before the wedding, and the Groom's Room gives a separate space for preparations. A biomass boiler fuelled by wood from the estate provides heating and hot water.

Menus draw on Wasing's own organic farm. The Nose to Tail menu features beef from the herd of red Sussex cattle, with fruit from the orchards and herbs from the fields and gardens. Artisan producers nearby supply Italian-style cured meats, award-winning cheeses including Wigmore and Barkham Blue, and Chalk Stream smoked trout from the River Test. Rebellion from Marlow and Renegade from Yattendon supply real ales and lagers, and Wasing Gin and Vodka use lemons, rosemary, thyme and blackcurrant leaves from the Walled Garden with Wasing Honey. Evening street food is also served.

We have been to many weddings, 9 last year, and we have never heard anyone rave about wedding food like they did on our day. The food was outstanding. The presentation blew people away and we have not stopped hearing about how good it was.

Our Wasing wedding was incredible. The planning team are amazing and were always on hand to answer all of my questions. Jenna was a fantastic wedding coordinator and made the day run smoothly. So many of our guests said it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding. The venue itself is beautiful. Ideal if you want to have the ceremony, reception and accommodation all in one place.
