About Peckforton Castle

Peckforton Castle is a Grade I listed red sandstone castle of the 19th century in the Cheshire hills, taken for one wedding a day, with 48 bedrooms.

Peckforton Castle is a red sandstone castle built in the 19th century for Lord Tollemache, set high in the Peckforton Hills of Cheshire. It is Grade I listed and described as the only intact medieval-style castle in the country. The ruins of Beeston Castle can be seen across the valley, and Chester is about 11 miles away.

A wedding takes the whole castle, its grounds and all 48 bedrooms, and only one wedding is held each day. Ceremonies take place in the vaulted Great Hall or in one of four other licensed rooms, with up to 165 guests for the ceremony and wedding breakfast and up to 350 for the evening. The tapestried reception rooms, grand staircases and inner courtyard make up the rest of the setting. The castle's own kitchens run the 1851 Restaurant and the 2010 Brasserie. The Lodge and The Retreat, in the grounds, each sleep up to ten guests.

Ceremony under a stone vault

The Great Hall rises to a stone vault and is one of five licensed rooms in the castle. After the ceremony the party moves to the tapestried reception rooms, lit by chandeliers and tall candelabra, with grand staircases and shadowed archways for photographs.

I just want to say thank you so much to you and the rest of the castle team for a truly amazing day. It was a dream wedding and it was more than we could have ever hoped for. Everything was absolutely perfect and the whole team on the day went above and beyond to make it special. The food was amazing and everyone commented on it – some people said it was the best food they’d had at a wedding so please pass our thanks to the chefs and kitchen team.
