About The Horn Of Plenty

An independently owned four-star country house hotel on the Devon and Cornwall border, where fine dining, personal service and far-reaching views shape the wedding

The Horn Of Plenty in Gulworthy

The Horn Of Plenty is an independently owned four-star country house hotel on the Devon and Cornwall border. Superb cuisine, outstanding service, pleasant surroundings and far-reaching views are the four things the hotel puts first, and a wedding here draws on all of them. The hotel has won regional and national awards, both as a small hotel and as a wedding venue. It is a food-focused place, and it suits couples for whom the meal and the setting for the wedding photographs matter as much as anything else on the day. Gardens and countryside surround the house, so the photographs can use the views as well as the interiors.

The approach to a wedding is a personal one. Nothing is too much trouble, every aspect of the day is shaped around the couple's hopes, and the small details are taken care of so that the couple are free to relax on the day itself. Seeing the hotel in person is the best way to judge it, and a tour is arranged through the owner. The meal, the service and the setting are planned together rather than as separate items. For couples who put the table and the surroundings at the top of their list, this is a hotel built around those priorities.

Magical micro wedding

We had the most magical day at The Horn of Plenty. Shirna made the initial planning to our big day an absolute dream. We had a micro wedding , planned in just two months. The venue is beautiful, the staff so professional, friendly and accommodating. The food was incredible. I can't thank everyone enough for making our special day so perfect.

The best day ever!

The Horn of Plenty truly exceeded all of our expectations. From the breathtaking views to the flawless service, everything about the day was perfect. ... A massive thank you to Shirna & Jess, who were absolutely fantastic throughout the entire wedding planning process. They were so helpful, attentive, and calm during the lead-up to the wedding, which was honestly a lifesaver with all the planning stress. ... Where do I even start with the food? It was incredible. The process of creating our menu with the chef was one of our favourite parts of the planning. They really listened to our preferences and ensured that everything, from the canapés to the three-course meal, paired beautifully. We loved that we had the opportunity to try everything beforehand, which allowed us to truly enjoy the flavours on the day without any wedding-day chaos taking over. Our guests are still raving about the food months later, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for anything better.
