Olive groves and a hundred thousand roses
Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech opened on 3 October 2015 and was the hotel group’s first property in Africa. It stands in 20 hectares of olive groves and landscaped gardens, with 100,000 roses of 30 varieties and olive trees up to 500 years old, and the Medina lies about ten minutes away. Interiors by Patrick Gilles and Dorothée Boissier draw on Berber and Andalusian-Arabic influences, with tadelakt motifs and handwoven wool rugs.

Six places to marry
Weddings are held in the gardens and the resort’s event spaces, from the Andalusian Garden for 150 to the M.O Studio for 800. The others are the Berber-inspired Tent, the Pool Garden, the Cour Carrée courtyard and the Atlas Ballroom. Ceremonies can take place beside the pool, with receptions looking towards the Atlas Mountains.

Dedicated planners work with each couple on menus and decor, and an in-house florist designs the flowers. Guests can choose between indoor salons and open-air spaces.
The villas
The 58 private villas, of 502 to 688 square metres, each have their own pool, and the 7 suites have plunge pools. A dedicated butler is provided in all villas and suites.

Dining and the spa
Restaurants include Ling Ling by Hakkasan, with contemporary Cantonese dining, dim sum and tableside Peking duck, and Amensi. The 1,800-square-metre spa has six treatment rooms, two Moroccan hammams and a yoga studio. Marrakech Menara International Airport is a 15-minute drive.
