About Castello Bevilacqua

Castello Bevilacqua is a medieval fortress founded in 1336 on the Veneto plain, with hanging gardens along three sides of its walls, frescoed Renaissance salons, a ballroom and 32 rooms for the wedding party.

Castello Bevilacqua is a fourteenth-century fortress on the Veneto plain, founded in 1336 and set roughly halfway between Verona and Venice, five kilometres from the walled town of Montagnana. Plants cover three sides of its medieval walls, forming hanging gardens that rank among the largest in Europe. Couples can marry there, in the castle courtyard or in the frescoed Renaissance salons, and civil ceremonies are arranged on site. A Catholic church stands 200 metres from the gates.

The castle can be reserved for exclusive use, with room for up to 300 guests outdoors and 160 seated in the chandelier-lit ballroom. The same resident chef has run the kitchen since 2004, with Venetian menus of handmade pasta, roasted meats and regional wines. Thirty-two rooms, nine of them junior suites, let the wedding party stay inside the walls. Venue hire starts from €8,750, and Verona Villafranca airport is about forty minutes away.

A Venetian table from the resident chef

The kitchen has been in the hands of one resident chef since 2004. Wedding menus lean on the Venetian table, with handmade pasta, roasted meats and Veneto wines, and a candlelit salon under vaulted ceilings serves the restaurant, All'Antica Ala. Food tastings and bespoke menus are part of the planning.
