116 Pall Mall is the home of the Institute of Directors, a Grade I listed building designed by John Nash and set behind a columned portico on Pall Mall in St James's. Inside, a marble hall leads to a Grand Staircase that rises beneath a fifteen-foot handmade Regency chandelier, and this staircase is one of the spaces licensed for civil ceremonies.
At weekends the whole building is hired exclusively, from 12pm to 12am with an extension to 1am. The Nash seats 250 for a wedding breakfast, the gold-leaf Carlton seats 180, and the Waterloo looks over Pall Mall through floor-to-ceiling windows. The old cellars now hold the vaulted Champagne Bar, used for the after-party. Searcys cater in-house, and external caterers may work on dry hire. There are no bedrooms, and hotels stand a short walk away in St James's and Mayfair. In all, up to 1,000 guests can be accommodated across the building.
