Super boutique hotel with a pillarless ballroom · Leicester Square, London
A Leicester Square hotel where weddings are staged as a West End love story, from a pillarless ballroom to a private nightclub.
The Londoner is a hotel in the heart of the West End, a few steps from Leicester Square, and weddings are a core part of its identity rather than an occasional use. Its celebrations are pitched as a West End love story, for born-and-bred Londoners and for couples simply in love with the city. The interiors, including the event spaces, have been designed by Yabu Pushelberg, with velvet, mirrored surfaces, art and custom furniture running through the building. The Ballroom is the centrepiece, and The Green Room is the more intimate space for the party that follows.
Weddings are planned by the hotel's team of experienced wedding planners, who shape the whole concept and the guest journey, working with a network of suppliers and production companies. Because the bedrooms and suites sit above the event spaces, a celebration can carry on from the party to a suite and into the next morning. The Retreat spa adds a hair salon, a barber boutique and nail services for the wedding party before the day, and a pool and sauna for the days around it. Beyond weddings, the same spaces host Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, birthday parties and award ceremonies and other special occasions.

Wedding ceremonies are among the events The Londoner hosts, alongside wedding receptions and dinners, and the hotel suits both intimate ceremonies and all-out ballroom grandeur. Weddings of all shapes, sizes and cultures are welcome, and traditions can be honoured in its spaces. The Ballroom has room for a chuppah and space for building a mandap or hosting fire ceremonies. The Ballroom is a soaring canvas of possibilities, and its stage is one that couples can make their own.

The Ballroom is a large pillarless room, alluding to the theatres of the West End. A retractable partition divides it into Ballroom A and Ballroom B and allows surprise reveals, and its audio-visual systems are state-of-the-art. Guests begin in the pre-function foyer, used for welcome receptions and post-event cocktails, where undulating velvet walls mimic theatre curtains, with a bar and an art collection, and double doors open into the ballroom. The Green Room is a private London nightclub, completely self-contained, with rich velvet furniture, a mirrored ceiling, a marble dancefloor, a speakeasy bar, its own kitchen and direct lifts from street level. It is made for cocktail receptions, soirées and afterparties.

The Londoner has 350 rooms and suites, loft-inspired and open plan, with residential panelling, contemporary art and London views. The Signature Suite is a home in the city for two, with a living room, interior terrace and separate bedroom wing, and the two-storey Tower Penthouse Suite takes up to four. A wedding night in a suite comes with a complimentary breakfast the following morning, and preferential rates can be arranged for guests staying the night. Room keys open The Residence and The Retreat.

Menus are created by The Londoner's executive chefs, inspired by the city's fine cuisines and made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. They run from artistically presented amuse-bouche to intimate private dining and spectacular feasts, with six world cuisine stations possible in The Ballroom, or a private meal for just the couple. Planners and chefs work together on dietary requirements, and the hotel partners with kosher and Asian specialist caterers. The Ballroom has two adjoining kitchens at either end, for piping hot restaurant food and simultaneous plate delivery.
