Island resort with a medieval castle and olive mill on Lake Trasimeno, Castiglione del Lago, Umbria
Villa Polvese Resort and Oil Farm occupies Isola Polvese on Lake Trasimeno, with a medieval castle, an Olivetan church, a villa by Tomaso Buzzi and twenty-one rooms in a 75-hectare park.
Villa Polvese Resort and Oil Farm stands on Isola Polvese in Lake Trasimeno, within the municipality of Castiglione del Lago in Umbria. The island combines the ruins of a medieval castle, an Olivetan church and a villa designed by the architect Tomaso Buzzi, set in a 75-hectare natural park. More than 6,000 olive trees, some of them very old, supply the resort's own mill, and a small vegetable garden and fruit trees feed the restaurant, where lake fish and regional produce feature on the menu.
Weddings can be held on an exclusive-use basis. A civil ceremony licence is held, and the spaces include the indoor restaurant of the Dolce Agogia resort for about 50 guests, the Fiorito gazebo for about 200 guests and the twelfth-century castle. A typical wedding menu opens with finger food and Umbrian specialities on the lawn above the lake, followed by a seated meal and a dessert buffet, with sparkling and local wines. The resort has twenty-one rooms, all with lake or countryside views, and the Suite is given to the couple on their wedding night.

Isola Polvese brings together the ruins of a medieval castle, an Olivetan church and a villa conceived by the architect Tomaso Buzzi. The buildings sit above Lake Trasimeno, with sunsets and lake views over the water.

The villa is surrounded by 75 hectares of natural park with more than 6,000 olive trees, some of them very old. The resort presses its own extra virgin olive oil in its mill and grows fruit and vegetables that go straight to the restaurant.

Celebrations can use the Fiorito gazebo, the Dolce Agogia restaurant or the twelfth-century castle, on an exclusive-use basis. Finger food and Umbrian specialities are served on the lawn overlooking the lake before a seated dinner and dessert buffet.

Twenty-one rooms are furnished in a modern style and look over the lake or the countryside. The Suite is reserved for the newlyweds on the wedding night.
