Private country house with marquee gardens on the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire border
Poundon House is a private country house between Bicester and Buckingham, with two licensed ceremony rooms, a terrace and a marquee in secluded gardens.
Poundon House is a private family home between Bicester and Buckingham, set in open countryside on the border of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The house was built around the turn of the twentieth century to a design by a follower of Lutyens, with a Palladian approach. Guests arrive along an avenue of lime trees, and the garden setting gives weddings a private, unhurried character.
Two rooms are licensed for ceremonies, and an outdoor ceremony can take up to 250 people, the same number as the reception marquee. Drinks are served in the three reception rooms and on the terrace, and the wedding breakfast follows in a marquee pitched under mature beech trees in a secluded part of the garden. Couples have access to the house the day before the wedding to dress the property, and may return for a family lunch the day after. Suppliers can be recommended, or couples can bring their own. London and Birmingham are about an hour away.
