The hidden one

High above the water of Lake Como, where the sky turns pink at dusk and cypress trees sway on the hillside, Villa Nascosta lives up to its name, which means the hidden one. For those who find it, this private retreat offers complete privacy, beautiful views and the elegance of Italy. It stands in Lombardy, and the Lake Como Wedding Atlas covers the lake for couples planning a wedding there.

It is a setting for the kind of celebration that stays in the memory long after the last toast.

The architect Arturo Montanelli designed the house to blend with its surroundings, with open-plan interiors and floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto terraces and gardens. Paintings and sculptures by Velasco Vitali hang and stand through the rooms.

A villa for the ceremony

Villa Nascosta sits across landscaped gardens and sculpted terraces. It is timeless in feel and contemporary in comfort. Symbolic ceremonies take place under a vine-covered pergola or in the lakeside garden, for up to 30 guests. For the reception the villa seats up to 25 guests, or takes 30 to 35 for a cocktail-style celebration, with an aperitivo at golden hour as the lake mirrors the sky.

The villa has six bedrooms and ten bathrooms and sleeps up to 12 guests. The interiors have soft linens, curated artwork and panoramic windows that let in the light and the view of the lake. Every detail, from underfloor heating to home automation, has been considered without making the house feel clinical.

Private estate, exclusive use

Villa Nascosta is always offered on an exclusive-use basis, so the celebration is not shared with anyone beyond the wedding party. A three-night minimum stay leaves time to settle in, prepare and enjoy the occasion without rushing. The estate has a private infinity pool, a spa pavilion with a sauna and a Turkish bath, a fully equipped gym and quiet areas for meditation. They suit pre-wedding wellness, recovery after the wedding, or yoga at sunrise with views across the Alps.

Dining

The villa has three designer kitchens and a full list of optional culinary services. Guests can choose a casual garden brunch, a dinner by a private chef, or a cooking class that turns into an impromptu feast, and the experience stays personal and Italian.

A curated wine list, pizza nights in the garden and a breakfast buffet with silver service add to the choice for every palate.

Bellagio and Varenna are the nearest villages, reached by car or on a boat tour of the lake. Outdoor music and dancing are permitted until midnight, and the villa has parking for up to three cars. May to September is the peak season, and booking 12 to 18 months ahead is advised.

Views and photography

Photography is a large part of a stay at Villa Nascosta. The property is drone-friendly, with the approval of a certified operator, and every angle gives a picture: olive groves, sculptural architecture, golden terraces and the Lake Como backdrop.

In short

Villa Nascosta is understated and private. The design and the setting do most of the work, and a small wedding has the lake and the house to itself.
