Five-generation family farm estate turned country hotel · Madonie, Palermo, Sicily
5.03 reviewsA historic masseria in the Sicilian countryside, where attentive hospitality and local gastronomy sit at the centre of a wedding in a striking setting.
Susafa is a historic masseria in the Sicilian countryside, at Contrada Susafa near Polizzi Generosa. The Masseria Susafa is owned by the Saeli-Rizzuto family, and a film in its gallery carries the title Hospitality according to nature. The masseria stands in a striking setting where time seems to have stood still, surrounded by open countryside rather than a town. Its venue type is relais, it is categorised as historic, and it sits among the alternative wedding venues of Italy. Guests call it a corner of paradise that stays in the heart long after the visit.
A wedding at Susafa suits couples who want a calm, unhurried celebration. The masseria is a place to spend time in slow motion, and its hospitality, together with the setting, makes it the ideal location to celebrate the most important occasions. The team is courteous and competent. The gallery includes wedding films shot at Susafa, among them one of Tommaso and Maggy, that show the masseria on the day. Another film, Masseria Susafa by Julien Zolli, is a mood piece on the atmosphere of the place. With a small number of rooms on site, a wedding becomes a slow-paced stay focused on nature, scenery and food.

The couple can count on the collaboration, versatility and professionalism of the staff, who work as partners in planning and running the day. Service is fantastic from all of the staff, including top management, and a visible management presence is part of how guests experience the celebration. The historic buildings and the open land around them form the backdrop for the party.

It is possible to stay over at the masseria, which has 14 comfortable rooms. The rooms are simple but tasteful, an understated style that suits the place. Accommodation on site is limited and intimate,.

The recipes are the result of a meticulous pursuit of new interpretations of traditional dishes, creatively reproduced by chefs who are able to customise the menus with care and experience. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all part of a stay, with fantastic food and drinks served alongside lovely scenery.
