Pittalumari Makari in Sicily
Pittalumari Makari is a small estate and resort on Sicily's north-western coast, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea above the shoreline. It sits beneath Torre Isulidda, a sixteenth-century tower built to watch for the pirates that once troubled the Mediterranean, with wild Mediterranean nature and gardens around it. The style is barefoot Sicilian whitewashed minimalism, natural and simple, with sea-breeze ease. Raw materials, soft earth tones, custom ceramics and organic textures give the rooms an aesthetic rooted in Sicilian restraint. The emphasis is on local food, sea views and sunsets rather than grandeur. The grounds include a Mediterranean garden, an English-style lawn overlooking the sea, an infinity pool with sea views, a yoga terrace and walking paths.
Only one event is hosted at a time, and the whole property is reserved for the wedding party and its guests for several days. Only a limited number of weddings are held each year, with no fixed packages and no rushed timelines. The estate works with a network of planners, florists and musicians. All couples are welcome, children are welcome, and well-behaved pets are allowed on the property. The estate is generally accessible, although some outdoor areas have natural terrain, and guests' needs can be discussed to find the best solutions.

A ceremony can be held under the fig tree or in the olive grove ceremony area. Up to 80 guests can attend a ceremony outdoors, overlooking the sea. The vaulted indoor stone hall, also called the historic main sala, is used for indoor ceremonies and suits the off-season or a weather contingency.

Dinner on the Makari terraces
Al fresco banquets take place on the panoramic terrace or within the olive grove, and dinner can be an open-air meal overlooking the cliffs of Makari. Standing aperitivo and cocktail gatherings take up to 100 guests, and a barefoot aperitivo by the firepit is one way to begin an evening. Event spaces also include a rustic-chic courtyard and a panoramic rooftop. Poolside welcome dinners and farewell brunches are available for full weekend hire. The estate suits weddings of up to 150 guests.

The estate has 10 rooms and suites with coastal or garden views. Sea View Suites have private terraces and open-air showers, Garden Rooms sit among olive trees and aromatic herbs, and the Bridal Suite is a light-filled space for preparations and the first morning as newlyweds. Cottages complete the estate: Casa del Melograno has one double bedroom and a panoramic terrace, Casa del Mandorlo has three double bedrooms and two bathrooms, and Casa del Fico stands in front of the beach with a veranda for sunsets.
Food and drink
Slow Sicilian feasts
Catering is in-house, with menus created with the estate's private chef and local culinary partners. A sunset aperitivo hour of Sicilian wines and hand-folded arancini leads to a multi-course feast of fresh seafood, heirloom vegetables and in-house-made pasta. Dishes include slow-cooked lamb with wild herbs and pistachio semifreddo with fig reduction. The wine list runs from Etna to Trapani, with pairings for each course, and late-night options are an espresso bar, a limoncello station and wood-fired pizza under the olive trees.
