Weddings in Bellagio

At the meeting point of Lake Como's three branches, Bellagio occupies one of the most beautiful positions in the Italian Lakes. Weddings take place in historic villas, elegant lakeside hotels and landscaped gardens overlooking the water, where mountain scenery and grand Italian architecture create a distinctive setting for celebrations.

The town's narrow stone streets climb from the waterfront towards traditional shops, restaurants and quiet residential lanes. Along the shoreline, the gardens of Villa Melzi are among Bellagio's celebrated landmarks, while the surrounding lake is dotted with historic estates and picturesque villages. Ferries connect Bellagio with destinations including Varenna and Menaggio, revealing different perspectives of the mountains and villas along the shore. Bellagio combines the elegance of Lake Como with the intimate character of a historic Italian lakeside town.

Questions couples ask

Marrying in Bellagio

Short answers from what the venues have told us.

How does Bellagio differ from the rest of Lake Como for weddings?

Bellagio has the position at the tip of the promontory, with views in three directions. Its gardens and grand hotels sit in a walkable area. It is a complete wedding destination, and also the busiest in peak season.

Can the wedding party arrive in Bellagio by boat?

Yes. Car ferries and passenger ferries make arrival by water natural, and private boat hire from Varenna or Como city gives the wedding party a memorable arrival.

How busy is Bellagio in peak season?

Very busy. July and August bring many day-trippers to the waterfront and main lanes. Venues set back from the promenade, or high above it, avoid the crowds, and the day visitors leave in the evening.

Can the villa gardens in Bellagio be hired privately?

The Villa Melzi gardens are privately owned and have been used for exclusive events. The Villa Serbelloni grounds are run through the grand hotel and are open to hotel guests and booked events. Both need advance planning and a substantial budget.
