Weddings in Campania

Campania brings together some of southern Italy's most celebrated landscapes, from the dramatic Amalfi Coast to the islands of the Bay of Naples. Weddings take place in historic villas, elegant hotels, landscaped gardens and coastal terraces, with settings ranging from grand celebrations overlooking the sea to intimate gatherings in the countryside.

Naples provides the region's historic and cultural heart, while Sorrento looks across the bay towards Mount Vesuvius. Along the Amalfi Coast, towns such as Positano and Ravello are known for their architecture, gardens and extraordinary coastal views. Further inland, the ancient ruins of Pompeii and the landscapes surrounding Mount Vesuvius reveal Campania's remarkable history. The region offers a distinctive combination of Mediterranean scenery, artistic heritage and southern Italian character.

Questions couples ask

Marrying in Campania

Short answers from what the venues have told us.

Is the Amalfi Coast road as difficult as people say?

In peak season, yes. The SS163 is among the most congested roads in Italy in July and August. For a coastal wedding in summer, boat transfers between guest hotels and the venue are essential, and a specialist transport coordinator should be part of the budget.

Can a ceremony be held at the Greek temples in Paestum?

Civil ceremonies at the archaeological site need authorisation from the Italian Ministry of Culture and depend on availability. Private access for photography and celebrant-led ceremonies is easier to arrange. It is not a standard venue booking and needs contacts within the regional archaeological authority.

How does inland Campania compare with the Amalfi Coast?

Inland venues offer more space, easier logistics and accommodation on site for all guests, at lower total cost. The food is close to its source. The trade-off is the loss of coastal views.

What sets Campania apart from other southern regions for weddings?

The range. Clifftop coast, Greek ruins, volcanic landscape, royal palaces and farming estates lie within one region, so a planner can build an itinerary across several settings in a wedding week.

How far is the Cilento from Naples?

Paestum lies south of Naples, a drive of some length by road. Guests flying into Naples can transfer directly to a Cilento venue. Salerno airport also handles summer charters and can shorten the journey.
