About
Dr Tiziana Di Molfetta
Dr Tiziana Di Molfetta is an Italian lay celebrant based in the hills above Florence. She writes and officiates symbolic weddings, elopements, vow renewals, civil weddings and same-sex civil unions, and travels to any part of Italy, from Tuscany and Lake Como to Venice, Rome, the Amalfi Coast, Lake Garda and Puglia.
Before becoming a celebrant she spent 18 years as a career diplomat. She served as deputy consul in Zurich, deputy ambassador in Thailand, and deputy ambassador and consul in South Korea, and worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome in the diplomatic protocol, legal affairs and consular departments. As an Italian consul she celebrated legally binding civil weddings abroad, and she has led high-level ceremonies in embassies and consulates around the world.
“It's your ceremony!”
Dr Tiziana Di Molfetta, celebrant
Since retiring from the diplomatic service in 2018 she has become a published poet and an author, and she trained at the Wedding Industry Academy in Rome, where she gained her diploma as Wedding Ceremony Master and Wedding Officiant. That writing background shapes her work: every ceremony script is written from scratch around the couple's own story, with no template.
Her guiding phrase is "It's your ceremony". She works in English, German and Italian, and can offer a ceremony in English and Italian with a native Japanese-speaking translator. Couples marrying overseas typically work with her through video calls, and she begins with a free introductory call so couples can decide with no obligation.
Where a wedding is legally binding, her role as celebrant follows a delegation from the mayor of the municipality in which the ceremony takes place, as Italian law requires.
