17th-century borgo for exclusive weddings · Pisan hills, Tuscany
5.02 reviewsAn ancient borgo in the Pisan hills, restored from a rural hamlet, where a wedding moves between chapel, garden, pool and lawn within one borgo.
Valle di Badia, also known as Antico Borgo Valle di Badia, is an ancient borgo in the Pisan hills, carefully restored from a rural hamlet and used for weddings, special occasions, corporate events or a stay with friends or family. The owners planned the restoration to respect the original rural character and the traditional landscape, bringing back the colours, flavours and calm of the past. Olive trees, grape pergolas, flowers and a small lake surround the buildings, and the borgo sits in green countryside. A couple has an entire village to themselves, with views over the surrounding countryside, and the restoration was carried out with attention to every detail.
The spaces at Valle di Badia are numerous and large. Each moment of the reception has a different scenario, and the day moves from one setting to the next. The borgo is rented exclusively for weddings and private events, and dates fill quickly, with demand highest in spring, summer and early autumn. Weekend and midweek weddings are both possible, and midweek dates give more flexibility for planning. Parking is on site and a guardian is always available. The village is offered to one group at a time, so the whole place is set aside for a single celebration.

Ceremonies can be held in several places within the borgo. The municipal house on site is one setting. In front of the deconsecrated chapel there is a spot for a ceremony, and the garden hosts outdoor ceremonies among the greenery. The settings suit both indoor and outdoor ceremonies. An indoor professional audio system and a music system for pleasant background music outside are part of the borgo.

After the ceremony the cocktail usually takes place at the Greppia, a covered rustic area with a rustic corner with BBQ, wood oven, grape pergola and wrought iron furniture. A large lawn is a place for walks and photographs, and the pool is used for open bar service and scenographic aperitivi. The I Granai lounge by the pool is used for banquets and seats up to 180 guests, and its very large windows open onto the flower-filled park and the small lake. The main reception can instead be arranged outdoors, by the pool or under the lighting of Il Viale delle stelle. A marquee or tent is permitted.

Accommodation is a suite for the couple and ten apartments, with many of the wedding party close by. The borgo sleeps up to 50 guests in total, and breakfast is available. Rooms pair rustic Tuscan elements such as terracotta floors, exposed wooden beams and antique furnishings with high-quality linens, private bathrooms and air conditioning.

The cooking is authentic Tuscan cuisine, drawing on local ingredients and time-honoured recipes, with handmade pasta, tomatoes, herbs and olive oil. Menus are customised with each couple, from multi-course dinners to relaxed buffet-style spreads. Pappardelle al cinghiale, ribollita and bistecca alla Fiorentina are among the dishes named. Wines from Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vernaccia di San Gimignano can be paired with the menu, and desserts include tiramisu, panna cotta and cantucci with Vin Santo.

Symbolic ceremonies are held in front of the borgo's own deconsecrated chapel.

Valle di Badia is an amazing and magical venue. We booked this venue without doing a visit before hand and once we saw it for the first time it exceeded all our expectations. Photographs and videos of the venue do not do it justice. The team at Valle di Badia were very helpful. I cannot recommend Valle di Badia enough!
