Liz Marsh and Elizabeth Marsh Floral Design

Liz Marsh began in a small flower shop off Baker Street and learned the trade alongside Kenneth Turner. She dressed the windows at Harvey Nichols and worked for Le Caprice and The Ivy before founding the studio that carries her name more than twenty years ago.

Today she leads a team based at New Covent Garden Flower Market, in the middle of the UK flower trade. Flowers are bought fresh there and installed on site, from the ceremony to the last reception detail. The studio also designs private and corporate events, office planting and Christmas installations, and teaches floral design workshops.

The studio sums up its style as floral, not flowery. Each commission starts with a conversation about the client, the occasion, the venue and the budget, which the team calls thinking outside the vase. Weddings range from an intimate ceremony to a full transformation of a hall, with white and green a perennial favourite and a wide seasonal palette for fuller schemes.

Clients and venues built up over two decades include Cliveden House, Spencer House, the Four Seasons at Hampshire and at Canary Wharf, Firmdale Hotels, The Temple Church, Inner Temple Hall and Church House, Westminster. The studio is a preferred supplier at Cliveden House and Spencer House.

Sustainability runs through the work. The studio sends no waste to landfill, sources about 95% of its foliage locally and passes event flowers on as bouquets for care homes and hospices. It takes a limited number of weddings each year.

Where is the studio based?

At New Covent Garden Flower Market in London. It works on weddings across London and the home counties, and abroad.

What is the design style?

Floral, not flowery. Each design is resolved around the client, the occasion, the setting and the budget rather than a set house look.

What flowers can the studio provide for a wedding?

Bridal bouquets and buttonholes, ceremony arches, welcome signs, reception tablescapes, mantlepiece and pedestal pieces and complete venue installations.

Is there a minimum spend?

None is stated. A free wedding brochure with a price guide is available, and designs are proposed to fit each couple's budget.

Does the studio only do weddings?

No. It also designs private and corporate events, office planting and Christmas installations, and runs workshops.

Is the studio sustainable?

Yes. It sends no waste to landfill, buys around 95% of its foliage locally and recycles event flowers into bouquets for care homes and hospices.

Which venues has it worked with?

It is a preferred supplier to Cliveden House and Spencer House and has worked for the Four Seasons at Hampshire and Canary Wharf, Firmdale Hotels and Church House, Westminster.
