Emma-Jane Lewis and Emma-Jane Photography

Emma-Jane has been a professional photographer for more than fourteen years, since leaving university, and splits her working life between fashion and weddings. She grew up in a village in Devon, lived in London for over a decade and now lives in the Cotswolds, which is why her work moves easily between city weddings at Kew Gardens, Syon Park or the Painted Hall in Greenwich and country house days at Hedsor House, Euridge Manor or Cliveden.

Her approach is documentary first. Most of the day is photographed as it happens: relatives who have travelled, children playing, food being eaten, the couple together. The couple portraits are where she brings in her fashion background, working with the light, the architecture of the venue and the line of the dress rather than stock poses. Group photographs are run from a list, briskly and with a light touch. She also offers 35mm film alongside the digital coverage, a small set of frames in colour or black and white.

“As a photographer around 90% of a wedding day is natural, non-interfered with coverage.”

Emma-Jane

She is closely involved in the planning. A call about a month before the wedding goes through the timeline, the group list and wet and dry weather plans, and she will point out where the schedule looks too tight. On the day she works with the other suppliers, keeps the timings moving and helps where needed, from fastening a dress to finding the right moment for golden hour. If a second photographer is booked, it is her husband, Graham, who often covers the other partner's preparations and second angles of the ceremony.

Weddings abroad are a large part of her work. She has photographed a helicopter elopement in the Dolomites, a wedding at Villa Regina Teodolina on Lake Como, a micro wedding at Giraffe Manor in Kenya, and celebrations in the South of France, Mallorca, Marrakech, the Seychelles, Malta, Turkey, Qatar and the United States. In the UK she is a recommended supplier at Kew Gardens, the Roman Baths, the Bodleian Library and Hamswell House.

Couples receive an online gallery, usually 600 to 1,000 photographs and at least 800 for a full day, each edited in her own style and delivered within five to eight weeks. The files are high resolution, print ready and free of watermarks; unedited RAW files are not supplied. Lay-flat albums are bound in Italy and arrive about four weeks after the design is approved.

How they work

From the first message to the day itself

  1. 01Enquiry

Email with the date, location and anything important about the wedding. She replies with availability and a brochure, and a call can follow if you have questions. She is currently taking bookings for 2027 and 2028.

  2. 02Booking

A short contract and booking form are signed online, with a £200 non-refundable booking fee. The date is not held until both are back.

  3. 03Engagement shoot

Optional: a 1.5 hour session on a weekday, usually in Oxford, the Cotswolds or London, which doubles as a chance to get used to being photographed together.

  4. 04Planning call

About a month before the wedding, a phone or video call covers the timeline, group photograph list, weather plans and logistics. Meetings are by call rather than in person.

  5. 05The wedding day

Mostly unposed documentary coverage, with directed group photographs and couple portraits. She asks for at least an hour and a half of drinks reception to fit in groups and portraits without rushing, and a meal on days over eight hours.

  6. 06Gallery and album

The edited online gallery arrives within five to eight weeks. Album designs are sent for approval, then made in Italy and delivered about four weeks later.

We absolutely loved the photos that Emma did for us. They captured our day perfectly and were more than what we could of hoped for. We have had so many compliments for our photos. In the run up and on the day, Emma was professional, helpful and incredibly calm even when timings started to get a bit tight! My partner was worried about feeling uncomfortable about having his photo taken, but Emma made us feel completely at ease and we had so much fun. I would 100% recommend Emma to anyone looking for a wedding photographer who will make you feel and look great. They’re images that we’ll treasure for ever.

Emma was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Communication and planning were detailed and regular and we had no worries whatsoever on the day, we could just relax and enjoy.
During our wedding Emma helped everyone relax and gave clear direction to get everyone together and in the right place. Our couple photos were really relaxed and fun and she managed to capture us at our best and make it look effortless.
The final gallery was incredible and we absolutely adore the photos. We had lots of differently edited options to choose from and considering the massive size of the gallery received it very quickly. Emma captured exactly the vibe we wanted from our wedding photos and our couple photos- a mix of family shots, documentary style and more editorial style for our couple photos.
