Sicilian Wedding Day
Sicilian Wedding Day is a destination wedding agency founded in 2012 and based on Via Nino Bixio in Messina.
Sicilian Wedding Day
Sicilian Wedding Day was founded in 2012 by Emma, who is British, and Simona, who is Sicilian, and the agency works from Via Nino Bixio in Messina, across the strait from the mainland. A third planner, Guendalina, works alongside them. Between them they speak both sides of a cross-cultural wedding, so that a family's expectations and a Sicilian venue's habits are balanced at the proposal stage rather than on the day.
Sicily is their only territory. The venues they name first include Castello Xirumi Serravalle and Castello di Donnafugata, the tonnare at Scopello and Marzamemi, country farms and borghi inland, Villa Mon Repos in Taormina and Villa Tasca in Palermo. They plan on the east coast under Etna, in the baroque towns of the south east around Ortigia, Noto and Palazzolo Acreide, and among the saltpan windmills of the west.
“Our role is never limited to being just your wedding planners in Sicily.”
Sicilian Wedding Day
Three levels of involvement are offered. Priority covers the venue search. Premier takes on the whole wedding, from the budget and the ceremony paperwork to every supplier contract. Prestige adds the days either side, including the welcome dinner, guest accommodation, excursions, translations and transport home at the end of the night.
The portfolio mixes symbolic ceremonies, Catholic services and a church wedding in Ortigia, with couples travelling from the United States, Hungary, Lithuania, Nigeria, Scotland and Ireland. Several chose their venue from photographs and video taken on the planners' first site visits. They also arrange proposals, anniversaries and vow renewals.
Guests are looked after as well as the couple, with rehearsal dinners, cooking classes, wine tastings, brunches, guided tours of ancient sites and boat trips along the coast.
From the first message to the day itself
- 01Briefing call
An hour-long video call establishes what the day needs to do, and a written proposal of locations follows.
- 02Shortlist and visits
A second call narrows the choice, appointments are arranged, and the planners walk the shortlist with the couple over a working day on the island with two planners, or a virtual visit on an agreed date.
- 03Planning
Budget allocation, monthly planning sessions and one meeting in person before the wedding, with the ceremony and its paperwork arranged and every supplier sourced, contracted and managed.
- 04The wedding and the days around it
A detailed timeline and on-site coordination on the day, and under the largest option the welcome dinner, accommodation, excursions and transfers either side.

What does Sicilian Wedding Day charge?
Fees depend on the option chosen, the date, the guest number and the shape of the celebration. Priority covers the venue search, Premier covers the whole wedding and Prestige adds the days either side and the guest logistics.
Where do they work?
Throughout Sicily and nowhere else. They have worked with venues across the island since 2012, from the east coast under Etna to the baroque south east and the saltpans of the west.
Can foreign couples marry legally in Sicily?
Yes. The Premier and Prestige options include arranging the civil, religious or symbolic ceremony, liaising with the authorities and handling the documents. Symbolic ceremonies need no Italian paperwork.
Do couples have to visit before booking a venue?
No. The Priority option includes a working day of accompanied visits with two planners, and also offers a virtual visit on an agreed date. Several couples have booked from photographs and video taken by the planners.
How many planners will couples deal with?
Three planners work together: Emma and Simona, the founding partners, and Guendalina. Venue visits are made with two planners.
What languages do they work in?
The team is multilingual. Emma is British and Simona is Sicilian, so English and Italian are both spoken natively, and translation support for guests is part of the largest option.
Can they plan celebrations other than weddings?
Yes. Proposals, engagement plans, anniversaries and vow renewals sit alongside the weddings in their portfolio.

Is your date free with Sicilian Wedding Day?
A few details help them reply with a proposal, not a brochure.
