About Captain’s Club Hotel & Spa

A contemporary riverside hotel and spa in Christchurch where the wedding suites, the bedrooms and the restaurant all look over the River Stour.

Captain’s Club in Christchurch

Captain’s Club Hotel & Spa is a contemporary hotel and spa at Wick Ferry in Christchurch, on the River Stour. The wedding suites, the bedrooms, the Club Restaurant, the Club Lounge and the Quay Bar all look over the water, so the river is part of the day from the first drink to the last dance. The interiors are calm and stylish, and the tone is relaxed rather than formal. The hotel is small enough to feel self-contained, with the spa, the restaurant and the bar all on site, and exclusive use of the hotel is available for a wedding.

A wedding here runs from the vows to a drinks moment on the terrace, then the wedding breakfast and dancing in a private suite, all in the same riverside setting. An experienced wedding team and a dedicated wedding coordinator guide couples through the planning, from the first ideas to the final toast. Wedding packages cover a full day, a small daytime wedding and an intimate ceremony with just a handful of family and friends, and the hotel can also create a wedding to suit a couple’s own vision. The same riverside spaces are used for other celebrations, such as birthdays, anniversary dinners and baby showers.

Vows in the riverside suites

Couples exchange vows in light-filled event suites, where floor-to-ceiling windows show the River Stour throughout the ceremony. The Port Suite is the smallest of the event spaces and is the choice for wedding ceremonies or more intimate receptions. It has floor-to-ceiling windows over the river and a bar of its own, so guests can go straight from the ceremony to a drink without leaving the room, and the rest of the day can stay close by.

Celebrations in Waterside, Starboard and Port

The three event suites are the Waterside Suite, the Starboard Suite and the Port Suite, all newly renovated and overlooking the River Stour. Each has a bar and a private outdoor terrace. In the Waterside Suite, an English Oak sparkling wine can start the celebration before the wedding breakfast, and with its own bar, drinks and dancing can carry on long into the night. The Starboard Suite suits parties, with its own private entrance and its own terrace for sparkling wine and photographs with family and friends. The Port Suite suits more intimate receptions.

Birthday dinner

I was taken here at the weekend for a birthday dinner by my boyfriend. I have to say it was amazing. Excellent food, lovely staff and amazing views. Thank you for such a lovely evening and service. I would highly recommend for everyone to go here, I think it's the best place I have been to.

Dinner, breakfast and the lounge

Dinner and breakfast were both superb, and nice flexibility with the lounge menu. All staff, without exception, were friendly and professional. The newly refurbished lounge is wonderful! This was our first visit to Christchurch and the hotel's location close to the Priory, the river, and the town centre is perfect. We are so pleased to have visited at last and will certainly come again.
