A designer’s approach to the event

The Event Studio was created by Flavia Stefanutto and is based in Cape Town. She has been conceptualising and delivering events for corporate clients and private individuals for more than 20 years, and her particular interest is designing the look and feel of each event. She describes her approach as bespoke and hands-on.

Four roles

The studio divides a wedding into four roles. As designers, the team turns the couple’s vision, personality and style into the atmosphere of the day. As planners, it identifies and coordinates the right vendors. As stylists, it checks tablescapes before guests arrive, from place settings and cutlery to place cards. As coordinators, it runs the day to the agreed timeline.

Settings across South Africa

Destination weddings are one of three areas of work, alongside corporate events and private celebrations. The team likes to showcase South Africa to couples from abroad, with settings that range from beach weddings and wine farms to safari celebrations and city venues, drawn from an extensive list of venues.

The services

The services run from venue selection and vendor selection to concept design, décor and floral design, marquees and stationery, and catering and bar staffing, entertainment and event staffing. The team works only with trusted and established suppliers. The corporate side has handled functions for more than 2,000 people. Couples enquire through the contact form, and fees are quoted for each wedding.
