About The Kayon Ubud Resort

A boutique resort above the Petanu River near Ubud, where ceremonies are held on a deck beside a waterfall or in a thatched chapel overlooking rice fields and jungle.

The Kayon Resort Ubud stands on the hills above the Petanu River in Kepitu village, about ten minutes by car from Ubud centre. It takes its name from the Balinese tree of life, whose shape recurs in the architecture, the pool and the bathtubs, and scenes from the Ramayana run through its paintings and carvings, including a 50-metre stone relief of the love story of Rama and Shinta. The buildings are made of local stone, wood and bamboo and follow the contours of the valley.

Ceremonies are held at the Canyon Jetty, a wooden deck over the river beside a waterfall, or at the Puspaka Chapel, a thatched pavilion with views of rice fields and jungle that takes its name from the royal carriage in the Ramayana. Both are led by an English-speaking celebrant. Guests stay in garden suites, river suites and pool villas that look over the valley, and eat at Kepitu restaurant, which holds a Balinese culture dinner each week. Serayu Spa and a rooftop yoga pavilion are on site, and the resort is set up for couples rather than families, so children under fifteen are not admitted.

A resort named for the tree of life

Kayon is the tree of life in Balinese tradition, and its shape appears in the architecture, the swimming pool, the bathtubs and the artworks. The resort follows the contours of the Ubud hills above the Petanu River, built in local stone, wood and bamboo, with scenes from the Ramayana in paintings and carvings. A 50-metre stone relief tells the love story of Rama and Shinta.

Two settings for a ceremony

The Canyon Jetty is a wooden deck hanging along the riverside, with a waterfall behind it and the jungle around. The Puspaka Chapel stands beside the yoga pavilion with views over rice fields and jungle, and is built around an antique Balinese royal carriage. Both ceremonies are led by an English-speaking celebrant and are non-legal.

Beautiful resort in the jungle!! Amazing experience and the staff was super friendly and nice! This was our honeymoon trip and they definitely did their best so we can remember it for ever. They prepared a romantic candlelight dinner for just the two of us. The food at the Kepitu restaurant is exceptional. We stayed in villa with private pool and waterfall view, THE BEST place I’ve ever stayed! A big thank you to all the hotel members for making my honeymoon trip an unforgettable one.
