A medieval castle estate in the Tuscan hills, now a Belmond hotel, where weddings move between lawns, terraces, a chapel and an amphitheatre.
Castello di Casole is a castle estate in the Tuscan countryside at Casole d'Elsa, now a Belmond hotel. The heart of the hotel was once a medieval castle, built to take in the sprawling views. The aristocratic Bargagli family cultivated the site further in the 1800s, and the Visconti family and its parties added a splash of Hollywood grandeur in the twentieth century. The history of the estate winds back to the Etruscans, and from the vegetable gardens to the restaurants each detail honours those Etruscan roots, grounded in a vision of self-sufficiency. Rolling Tuscan hills surround the castle, and two grand cypress-lined lanes ascend to it.
The estate is a venue for weddings with many gathering spaces, and a team of bilingual and seasoned event planners sees to every detail. It encompasses vineyards, olive groves and a model game preserve, and exists in harmony with the land, a modern vision inspired by a time-honoured heritage of caring for the landscape. There is a pond for reflecting, fountains to inspire and paths for taking in the year-round glory of Tuscany. The same setting welcomes honeymoons, family celebrations and milestone moments as well as weddings, and the hotel is also used for corporate meetings and conferences.

Ceremonies can be held on the spacious lawns, on the terraces, in the intimate chapel or in the amphitheatre, which is set up for open-air celebrations. Seven event venues are available across the hotel, and the setting suits intimate, mid-size and large weddings. The lawns, the chapel and the amphitheatre give a choice of settings for the vows within the grounds of the estate.

Dining for the event can be arranged in the restaurant or on the glorious seasonal terrace, and it can be themed for the wedding. The grounds also include terraces for sunning and courtyards for dining, in addition to the lawns. The hotel has fine and casual dining options across its venues, so the wedding menu and the setting can be matched to the style of the day.

The accommodation balances Tuscan charm with modern country living, with junior suites, suites and signature villas, and a signature villa sleeps up to seven guests. Private villas and farm homes elsewhere on the estate suit larger groups and multi-generational family travel. On site are a panoramic infinity pool, the Essere Spa, housed in an atmospheric former wine cellar, and a 24-hour fitness centre. Country activities include truffle hunting.

Tosca serves Tuscan cuisine, Castello Grill serves al fresco lunches and Emporio del Castello serves traditional Italian cuisine. Bar Visconti pours botanical cocktails. The menus draw on the heritage and ingredients of the region.
