Rothschild estate with a waterside Dairy, Victorian gardens and a 16-bedroom hotel, Waddesdon, Buckinghamshire
Waddesdon Manor is a Rothschild chateau in Buckinghamshire, now cared for by the National Trust, whose weddings are held at the waterside Dairy for up to 500 guests standing.
Waddesdon Manor is a Renaissance-style chateau that Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild built between 1874 and 1889 in the Buckinghamshire countryside near Aylesbury. It passed to the National Trust in 1957. Weddings are held on the estate at The Dairy, a Victorian dairy beside the water, which is hired exclusively for one wedding at a time. Heathrow is about an hour away, and trains from London Marylebone reach Aylesbury in about 50 minutes.
Ceremonies take place in the vaulted Wintergarden, on the lakeside Pavilion or in the gardens, and the wedding breakfast is served in the West Hall. Around 250 guests can sit, and a marquee in the inner courtyard brings the standing capacity to 500. Estate kitchens or an approved private caterer provide modern British menus. The grounds include a parterre, a rococo aviary, topiary and a lake, and the Five Arrows Hotel, with 16 bedrooms and a four-poster bridal suite, is a short walk away.
