Lights and Magic

Lights and Magic is a wedding film studio based in Colombo. The company trades as Lights and Magic International (Pvt) Ltd. In 2022 they won Best Destination Wedding Videographer Sri Lanka at the LUX LIFE Leaders in Luxury Awards, and in January 2026 they announced they had been named in the International Elite 100 for a second time.

Every wedding is released as a Story-Teller, a cinematic film of about three and a half to five minutes built around the couple's own words: vows, speeches and what they say about each other on the day. Their listing describes the style as a highlight you can watch over and over, woven from speeches, ceremony audio and music, and also offers a documentary edit that follows the day in order.

“Just like each relationship, every wedding film we create is distinct.”

Lights and Magic

On the day they plan ahead so the wedding stays with the couple and their families, setting aside short windows for the cinematic scenes. Their listing names getting-ready moments, full coverage of the ceremony, speeches and toasts, a one-hour portrait session, up to three cinematographers and a drone, with a three to five minute highlight and up to 90 minutes of full-feature film. For Aanya and Nikhil they cut the Story-Teller in five hours so it could be played at the reception.

Much of their work is in Sri Lanka: Cinnamon Life, the Galle Face Hotel and the Taj Samudra in Colombo, Cinnamon Bentota Beach and Villa Bentota on the south-west coast, the hills of Kandy, Heritance Kandalama at Dambulla and a three-day wedding at Pasikudah. They also travel, with published films from Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi in Malaysia, Raffles Hotel and Sentosa in Singapore, Fiji and the Scottish Highlands, and many of their couples fly in from the UK, Canada and the United States.

Their films often record weddings that bring two traditions together: a Sinhala Poruwa ceremony alongside Hindu rites at Bentota, Indian and Fijian customs in Fiji, kilts and saris in Scotland, and Tamil, Hindu and civil ceremonies in Malaysia. They work alongside the couple's planner and photographer, and credit them on each film.

How they work

From the first message to the day itself

  1. 01Request a quote

The Request a Quote form on their site asks for your names, email, phone, wedding date and venue. Prices are not published, so the quote is built around your wedding.

  2. 02Getting to know you

They gather as much as they can about the couple before the day, since their films are built around your story and your own words.

  3. 03Planning with your team

They plan around the timeline with your planner and photographer, setting aside short windows for portraits and cinematic scenes so the day itself is not interrupted.

  4. 04The wedding

Up to three cinematographers, with a drone where it suits, cover preparations, the ceremony, portraits, speeches and the party, across every event of a multi-day wedding.

  5. 05The Story-Teller

The day is cut into a cinematic Story-Teller film of a few minutes, with a longer full-feature film for couples who want the ceremony and speeches in full. A same-day edit for the reception has been delivered on request.

Best wedding videographers I have seen on any social media platform. I got chills watching our wedding content, so cinematic & creative. The team has very talented artistry but they are so humble and kind. On the wedding day, the guys were so professional and respectful and made everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera, they bring the exact vibe any bride would want on the day. It honestly felt and looked like a Hollywood or LA production. I could go on and on about the feedback we got on their work. Everyone was so impressed by the quality - 100/10

I wholeheartedly recommend Lights & Magics for anyone looking to capture their special moments perfectly! Our wedding planner introduced us to this incredible team, and I couldn’t be happier. Their talent is unmatched, their vision is extraordinary, and they are so approachable and easy to work with.
The husband-and-wife duo behind Lights & Magics are not only humble and sweet but also hidden creative geniuses! They took the time to understand our vision, and what they delivered exceeded our expectations. The process was seamless, timely, and completely stress-free, which is a blessing during wedding planning.
My husband and I are beyond thrilled with their work . If you’re considering them, don’t hesitate - Lights & Magics will bring your dream moments to life in ways you never imagined!

Review

We had Lights and Magic shoot our 3 day destination wedding in Pasikudah and we’re SO glad we picked them! We have just received our storyteller video (within 3 weeks) and we were blown away by the magic they have created. That video alone exceeded all of our expectations. So much work / commitment went into capturing every emotion and detail at all 4 of our events. Most importantly they made us both feel very comfortable throughout and kept everything very natural. We haven’t stopped receiving compliments on the video nor have we stopped watching it!
Thank you team for your pinch of magic to the light of our love - you guys really are the best and I would without a doubt recommend you to anyone !

Where are they based and where do they film?

They are based in Colombo and film all over Sri Lanka, including Colombo, Bentota, Kandy, Dambulla and Pasikudah. They travel for destination weddings, with published films from Malaysia, Singapore, Fiji and Scotland, and their site lists Asia and Europe.

What is a Story-Teller film?

It is their name for the main wedding film: a cinematic edit of about three and a half to five minutes, built around the couple's vows, speeches and words on the day.

Can we have a longer film?

Yes. Their listing offers up to 90 minutes of full-feature film alongside the highlight, and a documentary edit that follows the day in order.

How soon will we receive the film?

They do not publish a delivery time. One couple wrote that their Story-Teller arrived within three weeks of a three-day wedding at Pasikudah, and for Aanya and Nikhil the film was edited in five hours to play at the reception.

Do they use a drone and how big is the crew?

Their listing offers a drone camera and up to three cinematographers, depending on the size of the wedding.

Do they film multi-day and multicultural weddings?

Yes. Their published films include four-day and three-day weddings and ceremonies that combine Sinhala, Tamil, Hindu, Indian, Fijian and Scottish traditions.

Do they work with our planner and photographer?

Yes. Their films credit the planners and photographers they worked alongside, and one couple was introduced to them by their wedding planner.
