How much does a wedding in the Balearic Islands cost? Published venue prices

What the five Balearic venues that publish prices state, what each figure covers, and how to compare them with venues that quote on request.

Amagatay Menorca, the 19th-century estate from the air

Of the 11 venues listed on 5 Star Weddings in the Balearic Islands, five publish a price: Amagatay Menorca, Finca Delica, Finca Morneta, Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa and Kazamor Ibiza. The other six quote for each wedding. Seven of the 11 are on Ibiza, three on Mallorca and one on Menorca; none is listed yet on Formentera. The five published figures measure different things: a nightly rate for a whole estate, a price for a stay of at least three nights, and three fees for hiring a venue. Reading what each one covers matters more than the size of the number.

Five published prices, three kinds of figure

All amounts are in euros and are the starting figures the venues give. Each is shown with the basis the venue states, and the figures are not added or averaged, because they do not measure the same thing.

A nightly rate for the whole estate

Amagatay Menorca, a restored nineteenth century estate near Alaior, gives a price of €12,000 per night for full privatisation. The venue lists the estate, ceremonies and banquets in the gardens, terraces and olive groves, 20 double rooms sleeping 40, and in house catering by chef Jose Maria Borras with the privatisation. It records a maximum of 300 guests. How many nights a wedding needs, and whether the catering is covered by the nightly figure, are for the venue to confirm in writing.

Estate hire for a stay of at least three nights

Finca Delica, at San Lorenzo on Ibiza, gives a price from €60,000 for estate hire with a minimum of three nights. The venue lists exclusive use of the estate for three nights or more, all nine en suite bedrooms for 18 overnight guests, the pool, sunset platform and party cave, a stone pizza oven with Josper and Ofyr barbecues, an air conditioned home cinema, yoga deck and turret treatment room, and a concierge manager. It records a maximum of 300 guests. The figure is for the estate as a whole and is not stated per night, so it should not be compared with a nightly rate.

Venue hire fees

Three venues give a hire fee. They are listed alphabetically, and none states a number of nights.

  • Finca Morneta, Binissalem, Mallorca: €6,500 for exclusive hire of the finca. The venue lists the finca and its grounds, outdoor ceremony settings in the gardens and beneath the great pine, the courtyard, lawns and indoor spaces for the reception, the garden pool and olive groves, the Morneta Suite for the couple, and a civil ceremony licence on the estate. It records a maximum of 160 guests.
  • Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa, Port de Soller, Mallorca: €12,500 for venue hire, indicative. The venue gives menus from around €280 per head, a separate per person figure that is not part of the hire fee. The hotel has 121 rooms, and the record describes exclusive use as partial: the whole resort can be taken for larger celebrations, arranged around the date and guest numbers.
  • Kazamor Ibiza, Cala Vadella, Ibiza: €4,750 for full day venue hire, dry hire. The venue lists exclusive use of the whole venue, an outdoor ceremony in the sea view gardens, all furniture, dining areas under the open sky with festoon lighting, and access to preferred suppliers or your own. It records a maximum of 100 guests.

The three fees buy different things. Finca Morneta includes a suite and a civil ceremony licence; Kazamor is a day hire that leaves food and drink to the couple; Jumeirah Port Soller is a hire fee, with menus priced separately per head. Only the Jumeirah figure is described by the venue as indicative.

Six venues that quote on request

Six venues do not publish a price. Each quotes for the date, the guest numbers and the arrangement chosen. What their records do state is set out below, alphabetically.

What the venue figure leaves out

Whatever the venue charges, these lines sit on top unless the venue says otherwise: food and drink, rooms for guests who do not stay on site, a planner, photography and film, flowers, music, hair and make-up, the legal ceremony, and travel to and between the islands. Guests who stay elsewhere also need transport to the venue. For the destination as a whole, see the Balearic Islands destination page, or the pages for Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca. This guide stays with what the listed venues publish.

How to get a comparable quote

Send every venue the same brief: your preferred months and whether a weekday is possible, the guest count for the ceremony and for dinner, the number of nights and how many guests will stay. Ask each one to state what the figure includes, whether tax is included, the minimum stay and the latest finish time. Quotes built on the same brief can be set side by side line by line. Guides to the cost of weddings in Tuscany and on the Amalfi Coast follow the same approach.

Questions couples ask

Which Balearic venues publish a wedding price?

5 of the 11 listed: Amagatay Menorca, Finca Delica, Finca Morneta, Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa and Kazamor Ibiza. The others quote for each wedding.

Is tax included in these prices?

The records do not say. Ask each venue to confirm in writing whether the figure includes tax.

Why are the figures so far apart?

Because they measure different things: a nightly rate for a whole estate, a price for a minimum of three nights, and hire fees for a day or an event. A larger number is not necessarily a dearer wedding until each is priced against the same brief.
