Daniele Vertelli is a wedding photographer based in Tuscany who opened his studio in September 2009 with his partner Andrea Corsi and photographs weddings across Italy, from Chianti and the Maremma to Lake Como, Umbria, Rome and Puglia.
Daniele VertelliWedding photographer and founderDaniele Vertelli has photographed weddings since he was eighteen, when he covered a friend's wedding while also acting as driver and best man. He was given his first camera by his mother at nine, and in September 2009 he opened his own studio in Tuscany with Andrea Corsi, whom he describes as a friend, colleague and partner who still shares the project with him.
His FAQ is plain about method: he works in a reportage style, with no directed poses, and tries to be as unobtrusive as possible because the day belongs to the couple, not the photographer. His portfolio page adds that he does not want a single label; he writes that his work is not only reportage, editorial or fashion, and that he takes ideas from films, paintings and fashion editorials. The galleries on his site move between black and white and warm colour, close moments with guests and wide views of the setting.
“The most beautiful destiny for a photo is to finish inside an album of memories.”
Daniele Vertelli
Classic posed groups with parents, grandparents and the bridal party are taken on request, from a written list if the couple likes; he simply does not show them on his website. He will not retouch anyone to look slimmer or remove wrinkles, on the principle that reportage should be a mirror of the day. He asks for a meal on all-day weddings, and recommends light, spacious rooms for getting ready.
Tuscany is home ground, and his published weddings run from Florence, Chianti, Siena and the Maremma to Villa d'Este and Villa Erba on Lake Como, a Jewish wedding in Umbria, Villa Aurelia in Rome, Masseria Grieco in Puglia and Convento dell'Annunciata near Lake Garda. He also photographs proposals and elopements. He travels anywhere in Italy, with travel costs added for weddings outside Tuscany.
His awards page lists MyWed Photographer of the Year in the World 2020, a place in the ISPWP Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the World 2019, and WPPI Grand Awards in the album division in 2017 and 2019, along with Italian Photographer of the Year titles from 2012. His home page names Grace Ormonde Wedding Style, Martha Stewart, Style Me Pretty and Junebug Weddings among the places his work has appeared.
