Detito Photography is the studio of Francesco Detito, a destination wedding and editorial photographer based in Naples, whose published weddings run from Villa Cimbrone in Ravello to the Aragonese Castle on Ischia, Villa Cipressi on Lake Como and Garda Island on Lake Garda.
Detito Photography is the working name of Francesco Detito, who signs every gallery on his site and calls it destination wedding and editorial photography. His own text closes with "Naples, Italy - Serving Worldwide". His FAQ says he photographs weddings anywhere in Italy and takes on a number of destination weddings abroad each year.
In his own words he goes to a wedding as "a guest with a camera… and lots of access". He writes that every wedding is different and that he tries to catch that difference as it happens, without staged poses or smiles. His site sets out the method more exactly: a blend of editorial posing and documentary style, working as a photojournalist for most of the day and giving gentle direction when it is time for portraits. The galleries move easily between colour and black and white, and between wide views of the setting and close moments with the bridal party.
“A guest with a camera… and lots of access.”
Francesco Detito, on how he sees himself at a wedding
Four weddings are published in full. Alex and Andrew married at Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, with the ceremony under the garden arches and dinner beneath a run of stone vaults. Brooke and Austin held theirs at Villa Cipressi on Lake Como, ending with a wooden launch out across the lake. Erica and Dustin married among the ruins of the Aragonese Castle on Ischia, with a waterside reception and fireworks over the sea. Sam and Lance eloped to Garda Island on Lake Garda.
He does not publish prices, hours of coverage, the number of photographs or how long delivery takes, and his site gives no detail on albums or prints, so these are questions for the first conversation. His FAQ says he takes a limited number of weddings each year, that most dates are booked at least a year ahead, and that a date is held once a signed contract and an initial payment are received. His listing names Style Me Pretty, Martha Stewart Weddings, Brides, Carats & Cake, Destination I Do Magazine and Bridal Musings among the places his work has appeared, and ISPWP published one of his Lake Garda weddings in May 2010.
