A hunting lodge turned country house
Mastropà began as Casino Mastropaolo, a hunting lodge of the early nineteenth century and the summer home of landowning families who produced oil and wheat. It stands on a hill in the Massafra countryside overlooking the Gulf of Taranto. The present owners bought the house in 2012 and spent ten years restoring it, planting thousands of trees and regenerating the Mediterranean scrub around it.

The olive grove and the courtyards
Civil and symbolic ceremonies are held among the olive trees or at the edge of the ravine, with its rock caves as a backdrop. Receptions use the courtyard in front of the house and the gardens, with the Sala dei Limoni and the Pergola del Gelsomino as the rain option for up to 120 guests.

Nine rooms
Weddings are held on an exclusive-use basis over a minimum of two nights, so the whole property is the couple’s. There are nine rooms sleeping up to 18, from the 75 square metre Glicine Suite with a stone fireplace to the Edera junior suite with a hydromassage tub, and four rooms in the Ancient Stables, each with a private garden and plunge tub.

The pool, the park and the table
A saltwater pool looks over the olive trees, and the 18-hectare park holds wellness treatments in a rock cave, on the lawn and beside a jacuzzi on the Gulf terrace. The kitchen reinterprets Apulian tradition with produce from the estate. Brindisi airport is 55 minutes by road and Bari 60 minutes.
