Four vocalists, one dance floor

Rocks The Room is a London function band that grew out of a group of musicians united by a love of soul, funk and R&B. It is Black and women-owned, based in Peckham, and plays weddings, milestone birthdays, corporate events and private parties. The band has more than ten years of experience, with weddings as its speciality.

The founder

Katanya is the founder and director. A singer-songwriter from Peckham, she leads the band on stage and works directly with wedding producers and venue coordinators so that the day runs smoothly. She has performed in international productions including Queen of The Night in Spain and Tina, The Rock Legend in Germany. Xorael, Daniel and Cartier are the other vocalists.

Six formations

The line-up is chosen to suit the room and the guest list. Six named formations run from the five-piece Cobalt to the ten-piece Sapphire. The larger line-ups add vocalists, and saxophone and trumpet, and choreographed stage shows are part of the act.

What every booking includes

Every booking includes a full PA system, top-of-the-range speakers, a dedicated sound engineer, stage lighting and PAT-tested equipment, with custom setlists and a live first dance or chosen song. The evening set is two hours in total, either two 60-minute sets or three 40-minute sets, with a laptop DJ between sets. Ceremony, cocktail and banquet music are available, and a dance floor, microphones for speeches and extra lighting can be added.

The band plays weddings across the UK and at destination weddings including Tuscany and Sicily. It is priced per event rather than per hour, and travel is always included in the quote.
