Briery Hill House is a private, ochre-rendered country house at the end of a long drive near Kilcot and Newent, in the quiet countryside of West Gloucestershire. It is taken for one wedding at a time, so the house, the walled garden, the lawns and the estate lake belong to a single party. The walled garden is built of flint and brick, full of flowers, and is home to a small band of resident alpacas who often join the photographs. Beyond it the lawns run down to a still lake with a wooden rowing boat.
Couples marry in the ceremony rooms, with their exposed stone and chandelier, or out in the garden, for up to around 120 guests. Around 100 sit for the wedding breakfast, and the reception is laid outdoors under the open sky, with modern British, seasonal menus arranged around the couple. About ten bedrooms and suites in the house let the party stay together on the estate. The Forest of Dean, the Wye Valley and the Cotswolds are all within easy reach, and Gloucester station is about 30 minutes away.
