Naples Capodichino (NAP) is the main airport for the Amalfi Coast, and the railway reaches the coast only at its eastern end, at Vietri sul Mare and Salerno. Beyond that, guests travel by the SS163 coast road or by sea. Where your venue sits on the coast decides which of the two does the work.
Flying in
Most guests from the UK and Europe fly to Naples. Salerno Costa d’Amalfi (QSR), close to the eastern end of the coast, has a small and changing list of seasonal routes, so check it against your guests’ home airports before relying on it. Long-haul guests often fly to Rome and continue by high-speed train.
By train
High-speed trains from Rome and the north stop at Salerno. The regional line from Naples to Salerno also stops at Vietri sul Mare, about 1.5 km from Palazzo Suriano, which is about 7 km from Salerno’s high-speed station. There is no railway west of Vietri along the coast itself.

By sea
Travelmar runs fast ferries along the coast all year. Its Salerno boats leave from Piazza della Concordia, beside the railway station, so guests can step off a train and onto a boat. Published journey times and full fares for 2026 (Travelmar fares):
- Salerno to Vietri sul Mare: 5 minutes, €6
- Salerno to Amalfi: 35 minutes, €12
- Salerno to Positano: 70 minutes, €17
- Amalfi to Positano: 25 minutes, €10
Luggage is €3 a piece, and there are reduced fares for groups. In the timetable from 7 September 2026 the first boat leaves Salerno at 08:40, and the last leaves Amalfi for Salerno at 19:10 (Travelmar timetable). Sailings can be delayed by sea conditions, so the boat suits arrival days and daytime outings, not the wedding night.
By road
The SS163 Amalfitana is narrow and slow, and journeys take far longer than the distance suggests. ANAS, which manages the road, can apply alternate number-plate days between 1 April and 30 September, from 10:00 to 18:00, on dates it publishes; taxis and hire cars with drivers are exempt. For guests, that is one more reason to book drivers rather than hire cars.
Ask your venue what size of vehicle can reach its door, and where a minibus can set down.
Venue by venue
Villa La Rondinaia, Ravello
Villa La Rondinaia is reached on foot from Piazza Duomo in Ravello: along the lane beside the walls of Villa Rufolo, through a short pedestrian tunnel, to a private gate, then about 350 metres to the house. The villa says Naples airport is less than an hour away.
Ferries do not reach Ravello, which sits above Amalfi, so guests coming by sea land at Amalfi and continue by road. Vehicle access on the day is to confirm with the villa.

Palazzo Suriano, Vietri sul Mare
The palazzo books transfers from Naples airport and from Salerno and Vietri sul Mare stations, and offers parking according to the size of the car. The SITA bus from Salerno to Amalfi stops nearby. Coach access up to the palazzo is to confirm.
Hotel Raito, Vietri sul Mare
Hotel Raito lists a shuttle among its wedding services and has free parking, with valet and an indoor car park. With 77 rooms, it can keep many guests on site, which removes the evening transfer for them. Airport transfers are to confirm with the hotel.
Planning the wedding day
- House guests in as few hotels as you can, close to the venue.
- Give every guest a written pick-up time and place, in both directions.
- Book cars with drivers for the return after dinner; the scheduled boats will have stopped.
- Allow extra time for every road journey in July and August.
For airports, helicopter transfers and how the coast’s areas compare, see the Amalfi Coast Wedding Atlas.
Questions couples ask
Should our guests hire cars?
Generally not. The road is demanding, parking is scarce in the towns, and plate restrictions can apply on summer days. Drivers and boats are simpler.
Which station is closest to the venues?
Vietri sul Mare, on the regional Naples to Salerno line, for Palazzo Suriano and Hotel Raito. Salerno for high-speed trains.
Can guests reach Ravello by boat?
Not directly. Boats go to Amalfi, and Ravello is a short drive up the hill from there.
