Askham Hall and Bank Barn is an exciting new style of country house hotel and wedding venue for Cumbria and the Lake District.
Opened in 2014 with 15 bedrooms, a restaurant, private gardens, spa, wedding barn, medieval hall and outdoor pavilion. It's style? Luxurious, intimate, unpretentious, up-to-date and full of charm. There are also two stunning churches nearby.
Winner of Cumbria Tourism’s ‘Wedding Venue of the Year’ and North West Wedding Awards ‘Best Venue Cumbria’ 2016, and also Cumbria Tourism’s ‘Guest Accommodation of the Year’ 2016 and ‘Taste Experience’ 2015.
A beautiful Grade II listed building 'Bank Barn' has been sympathetically converted into a first class wedding venue with capacity for approximately 150 seated guests. Original features such as bare stone walls and an open beamed oak ceiling, together with contemporary lighting, stylish décor and large glass doors, make it a truly unique setting for your wedding reception all year round.
A variety of catering options are available, utilising locally sourced produce, grown and reared at Askham Hall itself and on the family estate. Tables, chairs, linen, crockery, cutlery and glasses are provided.
You may decorate the venue as you wish. A variety of florists, hair and make-up stylists, dressmakers, photographers, cake makers, music bands and other services can be recommended.
We are licensed for civil ceremonies, both in the barn for larger parties at weekends, in the main house for smaller parties, as well as the outdoor pavilion (weather permitting) and medieval hall.
St. Peters Church, Askham is located a stone's throw from the venue. A romantic walk takes you from the church through the gardens and onto the wedding barn. Thirteenth century St. Michael's Church with its strong family connections, overlooking Askham Hall, the River Lowther and with views of Lowther Castle, is also close by.

making the day stress-free! All of our guests were really impressed by your service

Amazing wedding venue
Amazing wedding venue. My husband and I got married here and along with the
wedding party stayed over the night before for a meal. The food on both the
wedding day and the Friday night meal was incredible. The staff are also so friendly
and professional, the whole team at Askham Hall surpassed our expectations in
every way. Such an amazing venue, beautifully decorated, with a great mix of
history and modern interior design.” January 2016
The food was amazing
“Thanks again for everything. We spent the whole time during our honeymoon just
reminiscing about the wedding and how amazing it was! It really was the best day of
our lives and you guys worked so hard – the food was amazing, the service was
excellent and the hall, gardens and barn were just perfect. We couldn’t have asked
for anything more.” September 2015
