Rossana Sapori and TheKnotInItaly

TheKnotInItaly plans destination weddings in Italy for couples who live abroad, among them clients from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and Dubai. The agency gives 2000 as its founding year and more than 700 weddings as its total. Its company, R&G & Partners sas, is registered in Giove, in the province of Terni, and the agency describes itself as an Umbria-based boutique with an in-office team working only on events and destination weddings.

Rossana Sapori is the co-founder and the name couples deal with: she signs the blog's real wedding stories, answers the enquiry line and writes in the first person on the About page about her 25 years in destination wedding planning. The site also points to a separate concierge desk for guests' travel around Italy and an elopement division, WedInASuitcase, which plans weddings for two without fixed packages.

“What truly counts is meeting each person with a smile, because a smile is the beginning of a positive connection.”

Rossana Sapori, co-founder

The work covers most of Italy. The site names Lake Como, Tuscany, Umbria, Puglia, Sicily and the Amalfi Coast as its main regions, with Rome, the Cinque Terre, the Asti wine country and the Alps also on the list, and the South of France for selected events. Recent weddings on the blog include Villa Corsini a Mezzomonte outside Florence, Masseria Salamina in Puglia, Borgo Pignano, the Duomo of Pienza with a reception at Borgo Castelvecchio, and Castello di Vicchiomaggio in Chianti. The agency says it keeps a private database of more than 600 venues in Italy and France, all visited in person.

Ceremonies can be civil, religious or symbolic, and the Legalities service books the town hall, deals with local authorities and supplies an official translator. Weddings on the blog range from a two-day Indian celebration with mehndi and haldi to a small Canadian and Italian wedding in a Puglia masseria. The design follows the couple and the setting: pastel flowers and candlelight in a frescoed Florentine gallery, long tables under string lights in Puglia, red and coral flowers for a spring church wedding in Pienza.

Their weddings have been featured by Style Me Pretty, Vogue, Brides, Martha Stewart, Grace Ormonde, Ruffled, 100 Layer Cake, Love My Dress, Rock My Wedding and The Lane, according to the services page.

WOW! Rosanna and team are amazing

Having not been in Italy before our wedding in Sept of this year, Rosanna held our hands throughout the entire process in fantastic detail. With her many years of experience, you know she understands her stuff. She took care of all of us (including our guests) and we couldn't have been happier with how our wedding weekend turned out. It was because of her and her team that we got to have the wedding of our dreams.

Review

Here we are, back to reality, after our fairytale wedding in Ravello overlooking the Amalfi Coast… we are incredibly grateful.
Our wedding day was unforgettable. Each moment more magical than the next, you and your team made sure that everything went smoothly from A-Z. When working with you, I knew I was in experienced and skilled hands, but I still felt like I was speaking to family, who cared about us and our wedding day as much as we do. It was the absolute perfect balance and we could not have asked for more.
From the strong vendor recommendations, to the day-of coordination, the organized ongoing communication, the execution of absolutely everything… every part of this experience was wonderful yet professional. Even during the occasional (and unavoidable hiccup), you are calm and collected, and ready to resolve it. Rossana, you are a LIFE SAVER!!!!
Thank you so very much to this team for all the hard work, time and effort you have put in to make this a true success. We are a happy couple and we will always recommend you!!!

Questions couples ask

Before you write to them

How much does TheKnotInItaly charge?

Their FAQ gives a range of €600 to €11,000 for planning fees, depending on the service and how complex the wedding is. The 30-minute discovery call is free. Full planning is quoted after that call, based on guest numbers and complexity.

Where are they based, and where do they work?

The office is in Giove, Umbria. They plan weddings across Italy, naming Lake Como, Tuscany, Umbria, Puglia, Sicily and the Amalfi Coast as main regions, plus Rome, the Cinque Terre, the Asti area and the Alps. They also take selected events in the South of France.

Do they help with the legal side of marrying in Italy?

Yes. The Legalities service sends a document list for your nationalities, books the ceremony location, deals with the local authorities and provides an official translator for the declaration of intent and, if needed, the ceremony.

Can we hire them just for the wedding day?

Yes. Day of Facilitation is for couples who have already booked the venue. It includes a call, a meeting at the venue or by video, a final meeting in Italy and one planner on the day, with extra staff quoted separately.

Do they plan elopements?

Yes, through WedInASuitcase, their elopement division. There are no standard packages; each one is planned around the couple's choice of place and date.

What languages does the team speak?

Their website does not list the team's languages. The team plans multilingual and interfaith weddings; ask about languages on the discovery call.

How far ahead should we book?

They advise 12 to 18 months, especially for May to October and for places such as Lake Como and Tuscany. Shorter timelines are possible.

Is the venue search fee refundable?

Yes. The Venue Hunters fee is refunded in full if you then book them as your wedding planners.
